Oscar Tuesday (Sept. 13th)

Every Tuesday I will be talking about what every one in Hollywood is talking about: The Academy Awards of 2012.First off, not too long ago it was announced that Eddie Murphy will be hosting them, but that's just the start. The thing that has Hollywood beat is who has the potential to be nominated in January. I know that sounds a long ways off, but with most movies that get nominations being released in September and October, it is clearly the time to say who's got what. Before the fall season, a few films have been released that have the capablility of being nominated for major awards. For example: Rango or Rio could be nominated for Best Animated Film, Bridesmaids for Best Actress (Kristen Wigg), Kung Fu Panda 2 for Best Animated Film, Midnight in Paris for Best Director (Woody Allen) and Best Picture, Cars 2 for Best Animated Film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 for Best Supporting Actor (Alan Rickman, or Ralph Fiennes), Best Director (David Yates), and Best Picture, Winnie the Pooh for Best Animated Film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes for Best Supporting Actor (Andy Serkis), and The Help for Best Picture. None of these are locks or sure-ins yet, since September has just started. Next Tuesday: September preview.

  • If Alan Rickman doesn't get an award tonight I'm going to be one unhappy camper!
