Oscar Tuesday (9-27)

In the last two weeks of this series, we've looked at the possible Oscar Nominations coming up this January. So far we've only edged our way out, discussing summer and September releases. October is fast approaching, so it's time we discusses that. The biggest talk of the month is the first major release: The Ides of March with Ryan Gosling (Drive, Crazy Stupid Love), George Clooney (Ocean's Eleven trilogy) and Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Moneyball). George Clooney is also directing the film, so he could get a double nomination for Best Actor and Best Director. Both he and Gosling are being praised, so there's another nomination for Gosling for Best Actor (the other for Drive). And on top of that, a Best Picture nomination is a guarentee if it gets any or all of the above. And it seems that's it for October. The rest of the films are all action/adventures, comedies, or horror. Few of them stand any chance of nominations in the major categories, and even fewer chance of being nominated at all, so let's not worry about them. Next time it's November.
