5-year-old Payton Benson was killed by a stray bullet while she was eating breakfast Wednesday morning. Outside her house there was a drive-by shooting with a total of 20 bullets. The shooting was near 45th and Emmett Street in Omaha around 9:45 a.m. She went to the hospital after being shot, and she later died. Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said that she was Omaha's first homicide victim of 2014. Her second cousin, Massey Allen, said that she hadn't even started school yet.
I think that this is sad. She was so young and her life had to end.
What would you do if this happened to someone you love/care about?

Good job!
That is really sad and i hope they find the shooters
That's so sad! It hurts to think that you can be in danger while you're just doing everyday things! I would be very upset and traumatized.
I know, that's why I would never want to live in that type of area.
I think people need to be more careful about what they do in todays society. She was just a young victim who really didn't have probably anything to do with it and yet her life ended because someone made a careless choice. It's sad what people do today just to get the attention they want.
I agree, the victims are becoming younger and younger.
This is so heartbreaking!! I feel for her family so much. If this happened to any of my loved ones I would be so upset and sad. That's not the way someone should die, and that isn't the age someone should die at either.
I agree, no one should die like that.
This is so sad! She was way to young to lose her life so soon. Its amazing how fast something can happen even sitting in your own home. I know how their family feels about loosing a loved young family member because I lost my 5 year-old brother and that was the worse thing that has happened in my life. My heart goes out to the family of Payton!
I agree with you, and I'm so sorry for your loss!
