Three police officers from Florida were fired and the fourth quit due to racist text. In the text messages they were using racially derogatory terms to refer to people who they dealed with on job. The men criticized co-workers and made comments about there grammar and appearance. These text also mentioned offensive language about Obama and The KKK.
Do you think its fair for the officers to be fired because of the texts?

Yes, I do think its fair. And i dont know why they would do that. I guess they are just mean, rude, and racist people. They think that kind of thing is funny. But, it really isnt.
What they did is inappropriate but its there phones and texts so they shouldn't be punished for it. The officers probably didnt think the words they were saying would have consequences but they did.
I dont think what they did was very appropriate. Especially since it was targeted towards their own co-workers. I guess it really depends on how bad the situation was but either way I think that is unacceptable.
I am kind of in between about this. You do have the right to say what you want a little bit on our own time. But, I do not think that it was right for them to do this, and to talk about that kind of stuff. That is their job and they probably should not really be talking like that. They were probably sending texts like that to maybe just kind of joke around a little bit, and did not think something like this would happen. But they were not meaning for it to actually get out, they were just having a conversation which then turned to something bad.
We have freedom of speech I don't think they should be fired.
Kinda. I mean, their text messages are their own personal thoughts and opinions that they speak in-between themselves and each other. Still, it is pretty disrespectful this should happen, especially from a police officer. I think they could have been doing it just to joke around with each other, try and cause some laughs, or maybe they are very hateful people!
I believe there is no reason for these officers to be fired last time i checked we had freedom of speech. If it offends you in the workplace then you should leave not the other person.
Yes and No. Yes because people with power, like a cop, shouldn't be racist. It was obviously wrong and I don't know why racism is even still a thing. But I also say no because it was their personnel messages. My final thought is yes but I still feel uneasy about it because it was private messaging.
Yes it is fair. That might have been how they were raised, to talk about people that way or they are just rude people. I'm glad they were fired you dont want those kind of people in the work force.
