Paul steber, a 19 year old freshman at UNC was arrsted Tuesday in his dorm room. He had 2 firearms. It was said that Paul was "obsessed with mass shootings" and told police he planned to kill his roomate and himself if his roomate got into fraternity and he didn't. High Point University campus security was informed by students that he had a double barrel, 12-gauge shot gun, along with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol in his dorm. He was charged with possession of weapons on campus and making threats of mass violence. On Wednesdau, Lori Wickline, Assistant DIstrict Attorney, told the court he had brought the guns over the weekend. She also informed the court that he was planning since last Christmas to have a shooting spree. Paul stated that he "was not going to be an outcast any longer." Prosecutors brought to attention that he would watch vidoes of mass shootings "so that he could learn what to do and what not to do." A student named Martin Lentz said that every day in class Paul would look up guns, NRA, and poloticians and just sit and stare at them. Police praised the students of which informed police.
QUESTIONS:
1. How could schools prevent events like this from happening from now on?
They could do dorm checks every week/weekends.
2. If you found out this happened in your school, what would you do to assure that you are safe?
I would make sure I always have someone with me, keep my dorm room locked, and always inform staff if anything seems suspicious.

Good job Bailey! Be sure to capitialize key words in your title and be sure to reply on three different days next time.
I agree with your first answer, they could start doing dorm checks. I also think that they could probably also do something else so they can prevent from things like this happening. For example they could start telling the students that it is a no gun zone so that students would know and not bring guns to the school. If I found out that something like this happened in my school I would make sure if I see something or someone suspicious to inform someone right away before a tragedy happens. Being more cautious of my surroundings and making sure that I know what to do if a situation like it would come up.
I agree with knowing what to do if any situation were to come up. I think the teachers should inform students on ways to handle things.
I think schools could prevent from stuff like this happening by checking every student before they walk into every class room to make sure they don't have any weapons on them. If I found out this happened in my school I would lock my doors and always have someone with me at all times.
I feel that checking for weapons beofore etering a class wouldn't help much because it is porbably much easier to hide in your dorm room instead of bringing it to class.
I think that everytime a student enters the building or school event they check for weapons and other dangours items
I would lock the door to my room in my dorm when im home and when im not in it cary my own hand gun and call 911 of suspicious activity
I feel that it is a safe way to assure safety, but it would take too much time.
I agree with your first answer, I think that dorm checks might be a good idea, however, I can also see to it as the students taking the dorm checks as an invasion of privacy. I would also keep my dorm room locked, and then I would try to get home on the weekends instead of staying on the dangerous campus.
I agree. The students might think that it's an invasion of privacy but they should also realize that it's for their own safety and others safety on campus.
I think that schools could monitor what the students look up on their internet and if it is something that could raise suspicion then confront the student. Yet, if the student is on their own personal internet then im not entirly sure on what they could do, maybe rutine check ups or something but depending on the ammount of students that could be difficult.
