Samsung released a smart tv this month that has the ability to mimic the patterns surrounding it. Once users take a picture of the tv, they will need to have the Samsung SmartThings apps downloaded so it can match the brightness and colors from the picture to what the tv displays. The goal was to prevent tvs from being an eyesore and instead have it match the decor of the room. Since they tried to make the tv as seamless with it's surroundings as possible, it only allows one cable to be attached that's supposed to be able to transmit all your data and power. However, on the Samsung website it says there is a seperate connect box that serves to have all your plug ins connected out of sight. The 2018 QLED Smart 4K television prices range from about $1,900 to $3,800 and have been released in March.
Questions
1. Do you think the new tv is sort of pointless because current tvs aren't that big of an eyesore or that Samsung made the right move focusing it on being aesthetically pleasing?
2. How do you feel about companies like Samsung coming out with more minimalist and attractive devices that get rid of as many cords and inputs/outputs as possible?
My Answers
I have no problem with how tvs look right now and don't quite understand why you would want it to look like your wall decorations. I think when they tried to achieve the cameoflauged look, it made the tv a bit of an inconvience since you have to have the connect box and store it elsewhere. I wish companies would stop getting rid of headphone jacks and the tv inputs because I don't like having the one cord does all thing.

Super job Casey!
I think the new TV is pointless especially if it is more expensive than other TV's because I don't see how a TV that mimics its surrounings is any better than a normal TV. I think it depends on the person, some people might like how the TV would like with the patterns surrounding the TV. I think that removing the headphone jack was dumb because now you can't use headphones while you charge your phone, unless you buy wireless headphones.
I think that it will be a good TV and many people will enjoy it. I think it is good for our society to evolve into the newer technology.
I personally don't mind how tvs are now because they're just an expected thing to see with all the connections already included, but the idea would be interesting to see. I think Samsung is doing new things that are extremely innovative and will push other companies forward as well.
It might make money for the company because some people might think that they're an eyesore, but to me I wouldn't buy one because they aren't an eyesore to me.
I do think that reducing the amount of cables and cords would reduce problems with these TV's. Because if something was wrong with a cord, then obviously it would have to be the one and only cord that existed within that TV.
The sales Samsung will get is all going to narrow down to people's opinions, like yours, on whether or not they notice, care, or think their tv isn't up to their standards of style anymore. It'd be easy to know which cord was causing the problem but if the one cord that plugged into the outlet wasn't causing the problem on the new tv it'd be hard to fix.

I'm more of an I-don't-really-care person myself because while having things seamless is nice, it doesn't really matter when I look at a tv because I think the tv at home is better than what they used to be when they were huge boxes. I think that opinions on getting rid of cords sort of depends on how organized people keep their cords and if they use all of them to their advantage instead of tangling them up and losing track of which is which.
I think it's cool and interesting but I don't think a TV is that big of a problem in a decorative way. I find these more minimalist designs kind of pointless, because they might drive prices up and if there is a problem all the cables are hidden and will cost more to fix not to mention it might be difficult to install. I think the TVs we have right now are just fine.
I think that it is customer preference, but it definitely isn't something that people need. I think that they should just keep producing the same kinds of TV's and not make it so that it does everything.
