On an Indonesian island there was a new species of orangutans found. They were named the Pongo tapanuliensis. The way to tell this species from the other is that this species hair is frizzier and their faces are smaller than the other species. These orangutans behave a lot different from the other species of orangutans. Scientists are getting worried that this species might die because the forest the orangutan species live in is getting cut down. The government has no restriction on the land that the orangutans live in, so the tree cutting company could come and cut down the forest at anytime. There are only 800 orangutans of this species left, and they could die soon in the government doesn't put a stop to the logging company.
Questions- If you were the Indonesian government what would you do to save the Orangutans? As a logging company would you still cut down the forest knowing that it is the home for orangutans?
My answers- I would try to reserve as much land as possible for these orangutans because you don't know how much longer they will be alive. I would not cut down the forest because that is just like killing innocent animals just for your business.

If I was the government in this situation I would try to save the forests and put then on the endangered species list and people that cut down without okaying it with officials should get in trouble I would not cut down the forest because its killing for a personal gain.
I agree with you about saving the forests and the species is the most important thing that we have in our control. People that don't listen to the government should have a punishment. I would also not cut down the forest because we might gain in profit but you know that it would hurt that species.
If it were up to me I would first off put down boundaries and restriction to stop people from cutting down and destroying the natural habitat of these animals. 800 of a species left is a very small number that would cause much concern for the future of the species. I would do anything I could to protect them and starting charity for them wouldn't be a bad idea either.
My thoughts were like yours. I think that the government needs to restrict land just for these orangutans. I think that the new species needs to be protected because of the small number of them.
I would tell the company that they cant cut down the forest and they would have to find somewhere else to cut down. Personally no, Because what if someone wanted to come and take your house just because they could. you wouldnt like it so why should we take their and on top of that they all could die and lose this type of otangutan
Like you, I would probably save lots of land for these orangutans because they might be endangered soon and not be around for long. I don't think that they need to cut down this forest. There is probably plenty other forests to cut down.
My thoughts were like yours. I think that the government needs to put aside land for these animals before their population gets worse. I think that the company should move from this area as soon as possible.
If I were the wood company I would think in a situation that would not harm the monkeys in any way, maybe I would sell the land to someone who could take care of them. Or left the government take the monkeys.
My thoughts were similar to you. I couldn't just kill innocent animals. I think I would let the government take control of this situation. I think that the government should put some kind of restriction on this area of land.
