New Releases (9-30)

This weekend sees three new releases, all of which have a tough concept about them. One about cancer, another about getting James Bond in a drama, and one about trying to figure out which ex is best. Well, all three of them have little to no chance of being number one, but things change (last weekend Lion King 3D returned at number 1, and only a few analysts said it would). If one film has the chance to open at number 1, it's 50/50 with Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception), Seth Rogan (Pineapple Express, Knocked Up) Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3, Terminator: Salvation) and Anjelica Houston (The Addams Family). It may only be opening in 2,458 theaters (third for this weekend and ninth overall), but with Oscar-Level reviews (92% on Rotten Tomatoes), it is most likely the film be seen by a few at first, but then get some of its audience back. Analysts are putting it at fourth place with $11 million dollars.Second is What's Your Number? starring with Anna Faris (Scary Movie(s) and Chris Evans (Captain America, Fantastic Four). It is opening in 3,002 theaters, the largest opening this weekend and third overall, but has at best bad ratings (25% on Rotten Tomatoes) and only a chance at getting over $10 million dollars, putting it at either fourth or fifth. Finally, Dream House starring Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace, Cowboys & Aliens), and Naomi Watts (King Kong). The film is opening in 2,660 theaters, which is second for the weekend and 7th overall. On Rotten Tomatoes, reviews were not published until yesterday, and of nine reviews, none have been good. Fifth place or sixth place with $10 million dollars is the best bet, but since What's Your Number? is in that range, its up to the audience who gets fifth. The top 3 looks like this: 3. Moneyball with $12 million dollars. 2. Dolphin Tale with $13 million dollars. 1. The Lion King 3D with $13 million dollars. Either or for number 1, but its most likely for Lion King. That is all.
