In the past few weeks, New Dehli has been experiencing smog levels that haven't been seen in years. Large companies, the lack of awareness, and farmers who are burning crops are to blame but public officials have been using "cold weather" as an excuse. One person stated that "Life in the smog is very strange. Many people have a persistent dry cough and itchy eyes. Everything is hazy, so the eyes don't focus on objects in the distance. Everything looks morose." Imagine leaving your house each morning and coughing to no avail and having to constantly cover your mouth so you dont breath in something too harmful. People here are furious and are begging for change. The current air quality index is three times higher than normal which is considered quite dangerous. Efforts in the city will not contribute to cleansing since farmers are not even considering new less pollution-prone ways to get rid of unwanted shrubbery. New Dehli has also recently been dubbed the "Capital of Pollution" for its extremely toxic air.

Questions
1. What do you think public officials could do to lessen the amount of smog in the area?
I think the most important thing that they could do is to crack down on the largest contributors and enforce new or stricter laws and regulations for said companies.
2. Do you think pollution is a problem in the world today?
I've said it once and i'll say it again, pollution is a problem, climate change is a problem, and ignorance is the largest problem of them all. Unless people realize what they are doing to this planet we can consider ourselves hopeless.

First I would start with the farmers and make them find a diffrent way to handle their crops so that there is less polution. Then I would handle the big companies and make them figure out a way to do the same and if they don't follow what the citys laws are they will get charged. Pollution is a problum and it's not just from companies it's also car's and people that litter, there is alot of pollution going on in the world.
I think that in order to lessen the amount of smog, the government should start regulating companies and require approved methods to decrease polution. As for whether if pollution is a problem. I think that it is. Climate change is affecting us all and we're almost out of time.
I agree that in order to prevent and decrease the amount of smog that the people are emitting the government should really start to put more laws and regulations so that this does not get any more out of hand. I also agree that pollution is a major problem and that we need to be quick to fix it
I think they can make a rule or law to limit pollution in cities that the farmers are making. I definetely think that pollution is a big worry for the future, and I think that more and more cities are going to be overcome with gross smog that is making it hard to breathe.
Making a law or regulation to limitj pollution in and out of cities is a great idea and I really hope that they start to take some action for this smog. Pollution is a growing problem and we need to work out finding out ways to prevent it and to make things that can help reverse the effects of said changes in climate
I think that public officials could make some laws that will limit the amount of smog coming out of the factories causing the problem. I think pollution is a problem in today's world mostly in urban areas where there are lots of factories.
I too think that public officials should be smarter about pollution and how to control it by setting more laws and regulations that would prevent big companies and farmers from emitting too many deadly and harmful gases in to the atmoshpehre. I also think that we need to work on reducing the pollution in urban settings
It would help to have stricter laws on factories that cause major smog production and a byproduct of the things they make by maybe someone finding a way to lessen that output. Yes pollution is a problem, not as big as most people make it out to be, but yes it is a problem that most people ignore
Having stricter laws on factories, I think, would be one of the best ways to prevent and lessen the effects of smog that factories and farmers are pumping into our planet's atmospher. At the moment I think people jsut don't realize how bad climate change is truly getting becasue in our area the affects arent as apparent
