Omicron is the name of a new covid variant that emerged in the past week. it started in South Africa .even though there have been some variants to covid 19 this one seems to have people concerned. this new virus is spreading and rushing through countries at a fast rate many countries have already banned airport travel and closed their borders. even though there have not been any cases in the U.S the country is on high alert of this new virus.
Doctors are still working on finding the full symptoms and they barely differ from the ones of covid 19. as of now covid symptoms linked to the new omicron variant have been described as extremely mild by the South African doctors who first raised the alarm over the new strain. according to the world health organization, the new covid variant is likely to spread further and become a global risk.
The World health organization also said depending on these characteristics, there could be future surges of Covid-19, which could have severe consequences, depending on a number of factors including where surges may take place. a highly divergent variant with a high number of mutations some of which are concerning and may be associated with immune escape potential and higher transmissibility. The World Health Organization has said it will take weeks to understand how the variant may affect diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines. Preliminary evidence suggests the strain has an increased risk of reinfection.
I think that doctors and specialists in this topic should do all they can to understand how this new variant works and warn people and governments to help prevent another world pandemic.

I think the new variant isn't that big of deal. It is going to happen over and over and the TV if going to want you to keep getting more booster shots. Pretty soon everyone will have had or be immune from the shots. I don't think it will be a pandemic again.
Im some cases it could be a pandemic, unless they closed the borders fast enough to not have many people leave that had it and didnt show it. Something that could prevent a pandemic is to do a health check on anyone who came from south africa and quarinten them if they show signs, even if its regular covid. anything to block off the vorus will prove usefull
I think that this could possibly be a new problem but I think we need to wait till it gets closer to us to freak out about it. I think there is always going to be something new with COVID just like there was with the flu and other outbreaks. I think most of us are prepared very well from the last outbreak so we should be able to handle this one if needed very easily.

Honestly, I beleive that there's always going to be some new type of Covid-19 varaint, but I understand the reasons why this variant could have people concerned. I think that people have learned what to do from the last Coroavirus pandemic so we know what to do during this outbreak.
