In the 8th month of the most chaotic year, Netflix, a bringer of joy and entertainment has decided to cancel a total of 24 shows in order to make room for the kissing booth 3. Many people were outraged by this on the tik tok platform. Why would netflix cancel shows with such potential to fit in a 3rd movie of a series we really didn't need. I myself was extremely dissapointed by the news. I am not okay with this, Santa Clarita diet, Glow, Atypical, and Black Mirror are all shows I watch and enjoy. I can expect to see these shows on other platforms but a few are netflix origionals. Another thing that upsets me is that a select few of these shows include lgbtqa+ and poc and just struggles of people who aren't cis, straight, and white. In the end there's nothing I or anyone else could do to stop this so it was fun while it lasted.
How do you feel about so many shows getting canceled?
Do you think the Kissing Booth 3 is needed or wanted? if so why?
What is your favorite show on netflix? Why?

Good topic choice Aila! Your summary is good but overall, a bit brief. You also only replied once so be sure to reply to most students next time.
I believe that it is wanted to a certain extent. I just want to see how it ends. At the same time I didn't really like The Kissing booth because of the leading male. I persived him to be abusive, manipulivive, and just didn't seem like a good person. So if the 3rd movie is anything like the first or second I don't think we need it. We do not need a movie that makes this sort of behavior normal or wanted in a relationship.
By canceled do you mean getting taken off of Netflix? My opinion is that I really don't mind because most if the shows like you said can be found on other entertainment platforms. I also understand why they Netflix taking shows of their platform. Netflix needs to do this in order to make more space for the newer shows and movies that are being shown. It is not just The Kissing Booth that is being added to Netflix. Other shows are being add too. For example in the near future a live action version of the ATLA is going to be on Netflix. Netflix announced this after seeing how many people viewed the cartoon version.
I feel like cancelling shows it a normal thing that happens in the TV industry. Yes, people may have liked these shows, but I don't think the reason for the cancellations was because they didn't feature straight, white, people. The TV industry solely depends on the audience and what they enjoy watching the most. While some may have liked these shows, there weren't enough people who liked them to keep them on the platform. TV show cancellations aren't personal, these decisions are made with the wellbeing of the company involved and are made based on numbers and numbers alone. I agree that is it sad that they had to be cancelled, but that's just the industry. I'm sure Netflix would have loved to keep these shows if they had the room, but they had to cut them because they weren't doing well enough and probably ended up being more of a liability than an asset.
Though shows getting cancelled is annoying, Netflix needs to do what they can to help benefit themselves. Netflix has cancelled a lot of shows, but they did that for a reason. Maybe the show or movie isn't as popular as another or a newer one coming out soon. It would be pointless to keep shows on the platform if no one bothers to watch. Even if a handful of people still watch the show that is not enough to keep it running. I feel Netflix will give us better movies and shows in the near future. We need to be patient and understand that not everyone can be satisfied, so we will need to deal with these choices.
As of right now, I do not really care that these shows got canceled. I think they should have canceled these shows and not put that new movie on. Then put on a better show like Forged in Fire, and make room for other shows that are releasing new episodes on tv, but not putting them on Netflix till the whole season is out. I do not think Kissing Booth 3 is needed or wanted. The reviews are not that very good, so I think they should have ditched it.
I am also very dissapointed that Netflix decided to cancel all of these shows just to fit The Kissing Booth 3 in. Although it is a very good and entertaining movie, I do not find it necessary to have to get rid of other very popular shows/ movies. My favorite show on Netflix is Outer Banks because there is never a boring part.
I think it is super annoying that all of these shows are getting cancelled. The Kissing Booth is a very popular movie and many have watched it. I think it is not right to now cancel the show because so many people were counting on watching the third because it was an extremely popular show.
I don't like it because I like to watch the shows that are getting canceled. No because it get annoying after a while because it is over played and is an over used idea. My favorite show on netflix is SUpernatural because the plot is very interesting.
The cancellations are definitely annoying, but it's not unexpected or super out of bounds for a big company like Netflix. The Kissing Booth and proceeding sequel are objectively bad movies, but they bring in a lot of money. I didn't like the first movie and was already dissapointed by the second just by the trailers, but I still watched it. I think that's the same for other people too. Regardless if the movies are good or bad, people will still watch The Kissing Booth. Although it's an upsetting truth, the reality is that big corporations will almost always choose monetary gain over good writing and representation for POC. One of my favorite shows was I Am Not Okay With This, so I'm obviously dissapointed that it only lasted one season.
