Neil Armstrong, part of the Apollo 11 crew from 1969 and the first person to walk on the moon has passed away at 82. His famous line was: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." This was a momentous event in history, especially in the midst of the Cold War. The Soviet Union beat America to space, but the United States were the first country to put a man on the moon.

He seemed to be like a very smart and intelligent guy, I wish I could have met him!
Death is never easy for anyone. No one can replace Neil, because of his huge impact on the United States and landing on the moon! It was neat to read what different people in our country had to say about the passing of Neil. It was said in the article that he will be in history books, and he will be. Right up there with Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Amelia Earhart.
In the 8th grade we studied the Cold War, and learned so much about it on the scientific side. America was feeling "down" about not beating the Soviet Union to space, but it was monumental when we sent Buzz Alden, Neil Armstrong, and Michael Collins, and even more so when Buzz and Neil set foot.
Like a footprint left on the moon, Neil is a "footprint" left in history! :)
Even though this man has passed away he will forever live in infamy as the first man on the moon. I think that it is important that our generation continues his legacy by telling our children about him, at home and in history class. When people die its the legacy that they leave behind that matters, and his will certainly not be forgotten.
Olivia this is a great post, one thing however is that you misused the word infamy. The way to think about that is infamous or something bad. An example was FDR talking about Pearl Harbor, a day which will live in infamy.
This is sad he was a very important guy in the history of United states, and hopefully his legacy continues for many generations.
Deaths can be sad and emotional. Sometimes though, it reminds people of what you did when you lived though. He is a peace of one of the biggest things in space history! I mean, everyone dies. But not every lives!
