Navy SEALs strangle a Green Beret?

The Navy criminal authorities are starting an investigation on whether members of SEAL Team 6 strangled an Army Green Beret. There are two members under investigation after reports came back from an assignment in Mali in June. On June 4th, Staff Sgt. Logan J. Melgar was found dead in the embassy housing which he shared with several other special operations forces. He was a 34-year-old veteran having gone on two deployments. His superiors instantly suspected that there was foul play involving his death so they requested an investigator to the scene within 24 hours. There are no one being charged yet but the medical examiner has ruled it a homicide by strangulation.

UPDATE: Other Green Berets are speculating whether an argument between housemates could have led to the Green Beret's death. There is also a chance that he stumbled upon information about a SEAL Team 6 operation and that he was silenced by the SEALs.

Questions:

1. Do you think that the two Navy SEALs did it? if so why?

2. What do you think should be the punishment for the people charged, if they catch the person or people who did this?

Opinions:

1. I think that they could of done it but that there also isn't much evidence that they did it. They very well could of done it with all the training that they have, but they also should know better.

2. I think that they should lose all their honors if it is the SEALs. They should also then face time in jail like most people who commit homicide do.

  • Well done! Be sure to comment on three different days.

  • I think there is a strong chance that they could have done it, but I hope that is not the case. These men work very hard to keep us safe and just thinking that they could have killed on of their own makes me sick. If they find the person I think that they shouldn't have any rights with any armed forces, but I also think they deserve to go to jail like any other murderer.

    • I agree with the fact that there is a good chance that they did it and also that they need to serve time like all the other murders in the US. They shouldn't get special treatment because they are in the Navy SEALs.

  • 1. I really hope not, since these guys help defend our country. I'd start to wonder about how trustworthy our military and our government can be, since possible murder was just caused.

    2. They should be removed from the SEALs, arrested, and charged a lot, since they just murdered someone, which is not okay. It also makes the other people who were innocent look bad and they would be less trustworthy to us citizens.

    • I agree that a lot of trust in our military would be lost and a lot of people will question what is being done in the military more. If they are okay to resort to killing someone makes me question what else they would be capable of. If it was them then they defiantly need to leave SEAL team 6.

    • Our government does a lot of things that don't seem right so maybe they would instruct that he die because he knew too much. Even if there ends up being a reason they still shouldn't of killed the guy. No one should kill anyone for no reason.

  • I firmly believe in innocent until proven guilty and i feel that they shouldn't just assume that it was SEALs.

If they are found guilty and charged i feel that the punishment should be the same as any other murder charge.  and be dishonorably discharged.

    • I agree with the innocent until proven guilty thing. They did just assume without much information or at least they aren't giving the public much information.

  • I think that it is possible the SEAL's could've done it, but there isn't much evidence to fully prove that it was them. They should be tried for charges of homicide and be stripped of their ranks in the SEAL's.

  • !. Is possible that the SEAL's members did, but nobody knows the truth for the moment, so I think that is better don't say anything before knows who was the assassin,

    2. In my opinion the person o the group of people that killed this men should go to the jail for the rest of his life.
