Naval Football Player is found dead

A naval academy midshipmen football player named David Forney was pronounced dead at 11:28 pm. He was found in the bancroft hall on the ground, unresposive. The cause of death is yet to be discovered, but no foul play is suspected. This is the second death in two weeks at the school. Forney played football and played offensive lineman, he was the offensive anchor and that led to setting new school records. The coach ken niumatalolo said “Words cannot our pain and sorrow.”

  • If you were the coach, How would you feel if another one of your star players died?

I would feel sad and angry wondering how my player died and what I could do to prevent any more players from dying

  • How do you think the Naval Academy Midshipmen football team will do without David Forney, “the offensive Anchor.”

I think the naval team is going to do bad but I think they will recover after a few games.

  • Good job replying! I do think your story choice isn't the best as I have talked about stories like this and how students should stay away from accident/death stories. Your summary is brief overall.

  • I would feel terrible because someone died, but also because when you play on a team you are like a family. You grow connections with everyone and care for everyone. I would also try to keep a tighter rope on my athletes because if 2 of them die in 2 weeks something might be up.

  • I think that the team might do a little worse without their star player because they are so used to playing with him and having his skills. I also think it would be very hard because they will miss his personality at practices and football games and it would be really sad for everyone that knew him on the team.

    • I agree, not having the star player is going to affect their playing skills

  • I think that many people agree, losing a family member, teammate, or friend is incredibly sad. If I coached the kid then I would most likely be close with them and know their true personality so it would be very hard to lose someone who is like your kid. I would also try to help find the cause if I could help in any way.

    • I agree, losing anyone who is close to you is very difficult

  • It is really sad to see things like that. If I were they, I would make a award in his name to show who he was. I agree, this incident will make the team stronger and give them a bigger purpose to win.

    • I agree, it will make them better in the end, But I think that they may end up struggling first, also they have to find a player that was as good as David Forney

  • If I were the coach, I would be sad that two of my players died. I would also be angry because it was so sudden, and they do not know the cause of death yet. I think the shock will have the an affect on the players but they will recover in the end, and they will have troubles trying to replace him.

    • I agree, the shock will have a affect on the players, but they will end up doing better
