On Monday Dec. 7th, more than two dozen Boston College students, including members of the men's basketball team, got sick after eating at Chipotle in Boston.  This news came in the middle of an e-coli outbreak in Chipotle restaurants, people in nine states have gotten sick since October.  "We do not have any evidence to suggest that this incident is related to the previous E. coli incident. There are no confirmed cases of E. coli connected to Chipotle in Massachusetts," Chipotle said in a statement.  Twenty of the Thirty impacted individuals have been hospitalized.

Do you think this incident is connected to the outbreaks in nine other states? why or why not?

What would you do if you were the owner of one of the restaurants that caused people to become sick?

  • I don't know why the E-coli is breaking out in all these chipotles but I hope they fix it soon. I would close down the restaurant and get to the bottom of all these break outs.

  • It could be considering that the other outbreaks were in this same restaurant. I would offer them some type of gift card as a get well sort of thing.

  • I think that it could be the previous outbreaks but they don't have the evidence yet. I wouldn't eat their ever again if I was one of those kids

  • It could be related to the previous outbreaks but they had that solved. I personally would stop eating there after I had heard about that.

  • When I found out that something went wrong with Chipotle a few months ago, I stopped eating there. You would think that after hearing about the issues with food there, people would stop risking their health by eating there.

  • I think it's very possible that they are connected. Maybe there was just a shipment of bad ingredients to many of the locations. I would offer my apologies and maybe even offer some freebies to encourage those customers to continue to eat at my restaurant.

  • I think it could be just because it's a chain restraunt and I'm sure they transfer workers/managers back and forth between places. I wouldn't know what to do because it would be essentially my fault and I would feel bad about it, because I'm assuming I wouldn't know it.

  • I think that this could very easily be connected to the other outbreaks because i assume these restaurants have their food sent in. All of this food could be from the same infected factory. I think the CEO of this company could be facing some troubles trying to rid this company of this disease

  • Yes because whatever they are cooking obviously has some kind of the same bacteria in it. Since all of these dates of E-Coli are pretty close in time, they are probably all doing the same thing. Whether that is not cooking it enough or not using correction sanitation. If I was a worker or the owner I would do whatever I could to figure it out.
