On Thursday, Oct 28, 2021 the Polk County Sheriff's office in Florida uncovered a human trafficking opperation that resulted in the arrests of over 100 people. These Sheriffs have been conducting an operation to capture persons involved since October 20th. This was called operation, “No Tricks No Treats.”
“The primary purpose for these operations is to identify the victims of human trafficking and those who pray of the victims, as well as the child predators that stalk children online,” said a Polk County Sheriff. Of the people that were arrested, 61 were accused of trying to buy prostitutes and 39 were presumed to have offered to commit prostitution. They also arrested two child predators during the operation. Two people were arrested for talking to what they thought were minors, but turned out to be law enforcement. One of these men attempted to meet up with the minor and was arrested, while the other one was arrested at his place of employment on a Polk County Warrant. There was also another operation earlier this month where they caught 125 suspects
In Ohio, they also conducted an operation that led to 161 arrests. “ A home improvement contractor, a city council member, a firefighter, and a pilot were among those arrested,” as the article states.
We have to be careful when it comes to these things, they happen all over the world. Anyone can be involved, even those people that we know and think we can trust. This is a bigger problem than most people think, it doesn’t just happen in person, you have to be careful when interacting with people online. They could be anyone, not who you think they are. You would think you could trust firefighters and city council members, that we elected ourselves, but that’s not always the case. History has shown that even police officers and people from all walks of life can be involved in such heinous acts.
What are other ways we can stop human trafficking and child abduction?
What would you do if someone you know was being taken advantage of?

Good topic choice but I wish you would have gone into the bigger issue of human trafficking more. You didn't reply to any student comments which is worth 30 points.
I think that their should be more of a push for police departments to go after human traficers and get them off of the streets. I also think that we should make the public more aware of what happens in the world because I think that many people dont hear about these kinds of things.
I think the best ways to prevent this from happening is by making kids aware of red flags online or in person. I agree that it is a problem when people we think we can trust are some of the people who are doing this. If I knew someone was being taken advantage of, I would report it to an adult or the police.
I think that they should all carry some kind of self-protection. I would try and get them help.
Keep your eyes open all the time and just always be aware of your surroundings. You never know youre in a bad situation until something bad happens. That can be on the internet or in real life. I would first try to see if it was actually happening to someone, maybe one time isn't enough evidence but if it was repetive than I would give advice or help to that person.
Don't get into white vans, and if i saw someone getting kid napped than i would ask them nicley to let them go and if they didnt let them go i would punch them in the mouth because it's not okay to take kids without asking.
I think it is also important to keep an eye on the internet. A lot of children do not know that the internet can be fake. People pretend to be someone else and try to gain their trust. Parents should teach their children that. Maybe the children do not meet strangers then. If I would know that someonen has been taken advantage of, I would call the police and try to find a solution.
I think that more kids should learn about this because I didn't know what it was til I was 13 and that was because I watched a greys annatomy episode. I feel that human trafficing is very wrong and it is a very messed up thing but it isn't always easy to notice it happening. If I found out someone was being taken advantage of I would try and help them by calling police and stuff like that.
I believe that children need to be informed about human trafficking. It won't stop all of the cases but it will prevent some of them. If the child understands the situation then they will know what to do when that time comes. If I knew of someone being taken advantage of I would immediately tell the authorities or someone like them.
Human trafficking is definitely an issue all around the world. I think parents need to keep better watch on their kids and make sure they are always with someone if they leave the house. I think being safe when you leave your house is definitely a key role in lowering the amount of human trafficking that goes on around the world. I think we all need to do our parts to be safe so that we don't have these problems. But there's also social media and there's always an opportunity for people to be found on Snapchat, Google Maps, Find My IPhone and many other apps.
