missing submarine enters 12th day of searching

several countries are involved in a frantic search for one goal, a submarine.  There are 44 crew members aboard and it is beginning to seem fruitless.  a spokes person for the Argentine navy “Regrettably, we have not pinpointed the location, or a detection of the San Juan submarine, The rest of the areas continue being patrolled with vessels from the Argentine Navy and those from other nations are also doing a full sweep of the area.” At the time of disappearance the submarine had an air supply of a week.  officials say that the vessel went missing after water entered the submarine and shocked the circuit board.

1. what do you think caused the water to enter the submarine?

2. do you think there is any hope left for the families of the crew?

  • I have no idea, I don't have the slightest clue on how submarines work and what could/would cause water to leak into the machine. I think that the submarine is probably missing for good and if they do find it the crew won't be alive.

  • I am thinking that perhaps while submerging the hatch was sealed incorrectly causing the submarine to flood. if you mean will there love one's come back alive, no even if the crew hadn't died by drowning the air could not be rationed long enough to find them if they aren't dead before hand. probably in a few decades.

  • 1) I think the submarine was poorly build or there was so much pressure from the water that the metal or steel could bare it anymore and just gave in. Which then cause the water to flow into the submarine.

    2) I doubt it if the people inside made it that far.

    3) I do think they will find the submarine sooner than later.

  • 1). A crack in the glass, hull, etc. Water also possibly damaged the components which is why no one could pinpoint it in the first place.

2). They are most likely dead, and will live on in memories.

3). Maybe a couple days from now, maybe a week from now, maybe years from now.

  • Maybe the submarine was built poorly or there was a crack or something that went unnoticed. Truthfully, the people on the submarine will most likely die before they are found since their air supply is short. I think they might find the submarine but it might take a few more days.

  • A crack in some glass or the doors weren't sealed tightly enough maybe the submarine model itself was made incorrectly. Hope yes but will they find them I don't think they will anytime soon.

    1. I think that they could have passably hit something that didn't show very visible on the radars or maybe a whale or something in the animal hit them hard.
    2. I don't think there's any left because if they only had an airs worth of air, they'd obviously would have suffocated already unless somehow they made it to the surface and swam to some shore line or something.
    3. I think that they'll eventually find the submarine because they usually manage to find something deep in the ocean, kinda like the titanic. Took a long time but they found it.
  • I think by the time they find the submarine it will be to late for those inside. 44 crew members is a lot of people to provide air for and they have been submerged for over 12 days now. I think the families have hope but kinda have given up at this point

  • 1. They could of hit an iceberg

    2. Yea, they live on with their memories of their loved ones.

    3. Yes, eventually they will find it laying on the ocean floor ten or fifteen years from now.
