An 8th grade student, Cayman Naib, has been found dead after missing since Wednesday March 4th. He was found approximately 150 yards from his house in an area that was very slippery, but there was no signs of trauma to the body. Authorities say they found him in a sleeping position under a pile of snow. The parent's of Cayman think that this impulsive act may had been affected with him receiving an email from the school regarding overdue homework. After he received that email, he left 30 minutes later. Cayman did not have his wallet or phone. His friends didn't know where he was either.
Questions-
1. If you were a parent or friend of Cayman, how would you react? Would you react someway towards the school?
2. What are your thoughts about the school sending out an email like this?

Good job!
I would freak out, of course, having my child be dead; I'd also be able to freak out at the school for either pressuring him or not helping him, causing the overdue homework. I believe instead of sending out an email, the school should become more professional and actually talk to the kids and show them that if they need help they will get it, and the overdue homework won't affect their future at all! Cause obviously, some temporary problem, had a permanent outcome.
I'm guessing the kid was under a bit more stress than just overdue homework to cause him to commit suicide. Maybe he was bullied, or abused by his parents.
Yes, there had to be more to the story than just not completing his homework assignment.
I would question the school but not about the overdue homework, i would question why he was able to leave and how they just let him go.
I would be sad. I don't think i would react towards the school because it's not really their fault. I think the school should not send emails like that.
I would obviously be extremely sad because of the death of my son but I would be very curious about what happened and what I could've done to stop this from happening. I think it should have been more of a personal confrontation about his grades. If it would have been monitored this never would have happened and this boy would still be alive.
Yes, do you think it is okay that the school sends out emails like this? Why or why not?
I would be devastated, but I don't think it's the school's fault. Society as a whole is really bad at pressuring high expectations.
It could have been better if he found out in class where there would be others around to monitor his reaction, but you just don't know.
I would just be really shocked and sad. I wouldn't take it out on the school because it's not their fault. They just sent him a email with homework. They were just reminding him of having overdue homework, I don't think it is their fault.
