Misidentified Man Brutally Arrested

Former tennis star James Blake was standing outside a Manhattan hotel when Officer James Frascatore, who was undercover, forcefully took him down and arrested him. Blake was misidentified by a witness cooperating from a scheme to sell fraudulently purchased products.  This isn’t the first time Frascatore has done something like this.  In the four years he has been with the NYPD he has been named in several civil rights lawsuits alleging excessive force, and four civilian complaints.  In a statement given by Blake, officer Frascatore did not identify himself or even ask for Blake’s name before arresting him.  While internal affair detectives investigate, Frascatore has been put on desk duty.

It think that Frascatore should lose his badge.  The way he handled things I think is very unprofessional, he didn’t even identify himself or ask for Blake’s name, which I think should be the first thing done in a situation like this.

What do you think Frascatore punishment should be? Why?

  • Well done! Good story choice!

  • I think James Blake should sue him. He did nothing wrong so why was he being arrested. It is so dumb how some cops think they can arrest and do whatever they want.

  • I think they should take away his badge as well. The way he handled things without even asking anything was very unprofessional.

    • I thought the same thing about him being very unprofessional.

  • He should lose his badge because I feel as if he doesn't even know what he is doing because he has done this several times.

  • There is an expected behavior for every police officer in minor situations like this. He was completely out of line. I believe that he should be stripped of his badge for failing to treat another human being (especially one that's innocent) with respect. I also believe that the tennis player should be compensated for the ordeal he went through for doing no wrong.

    • I agree with you how he should be stripped of his badge for treating him without respect.

    • I think that he should get a different job as well.

  • I think he should get fired cause why would you just tackle a gut stand infront of a building with out asking what there name was and what there doing.

  • I think that he should lose him badge, because he has done this more than one time and could be doing it purposely now. He arrested Blake without asking for his name or saying his own name, that is very unprofessional.
