Scientists's on the Franco-Swiss border have sucseeded in creating a mini big bang with the large Hadron Colider. Using this enormoust tube under the border near geneva the scientist succeeded in creating temperatures a million times hotter than the sun. They created this by taking a different approach, smashing together lead ions instead of protons. For now the scientists will be studying the results, trying to catch a glimpse into the big bang. The collisions created sub atomic fireballs that burned at a temperature of over ten trillion degrees. At those temperatures the sub atomic particles melt, leaving a veritable soup of quarks and gluons; the particles that make up the sub atomic partilces. here is the link.
