When most people think back on middle school sports, they probably don't think about how their coach got in a brawl with the referee in a game. A middle school coach resigned from coaching in Kentucky this past week following a brawl with the referees during a basketball game. The fight was started when the coach "became upset with the officiating and took his team off the floor." The video taken highlights a fan going to the floor and arguing with the referees, then escalating to the referee kicking the coach's father in the head. Following this fight, the school board banned the two referees of the game until June 30th.
Luckily, no kids were involved or harmed in the fight.

This was probably a pretty interesting a game to watch. If I were there in the situation, I don't think I would do much but try and stop the fight. I'm guessing that the referee's and the coach are pretty embarrassed.
I think he should have resigned he shouldn't do that it gives the community and the school a bad name. If I was in a situation like this I would try to calm my coach down and remind him it's just a game. Nothing this serious has happened in any of the sport that I have played.
I must say that I have never experienced this situation before. I would have loved to see this action though. I personally think it was good that the coach resigned. It was the right idea on his part. If I were a player in this situation and my coach handled a referee like that, I would make the coach back up and try and avoid the fight. Great story!
It would have been highly entertaining, it would have been hilarious to see! I can't imagine how embarrassed the refs and the coach feels about this situation. How would you feel/react if you were a kid on the team when this happened?
Yes, I think the coach should have resigned that is something that coaches shouldn't do. Coaches need to set an example. I would stay out of the fight and watch it and be like why are you doing this. This is something coaches shouldn't do.
This coach definitely didn't set a good example to these kids. I would be so embarrassed by how this situation turned out and how it went viral! How would you react if you were a kid on the team when this happened?
If I were in the same situation as the coach I would have resigned as well just because it wouldn't be worth it, in my opinion, to keep coaching, however I have no opinion on weather he should resign or not. I have seen a lot of situations where the coach's would argue with the referees, but it hasn't escalated to the point of fighting or brawling.
I haven't seen this before either! Plus this is just middle school! I would be so embarassed and I don't think I'd know how to handle the situation which is why, in my opinion, he resigned. What would you have done/reacted in this situation if you were a kid on the team?
I think it was a good idea to resign from coaching because the fight would give him and his coaching career a bad name. If was in the situation I wouldn't have fought a referee in the first place under any circumstance
