Michigan State's Star Forward Adreian Payne is battling his way to a national championship in the NCAA Tourney. 8 year old, Lacey Holsworth is battling cancer. The two connected almost 2 years ago when Tom Izzo's Spartans took a trip to Lansing's Sparrow Hospital. Lacey was paralyzed at the time with a massive tumor on her spine and abdomen. Any normal 6 year old would probably give up... but what caught Payne's attention about Lacy was the she was so optimistic. Payne made trips to the hospital as often as he could to see Lacey, who always had her #5 Spartans jersey on. Adreian Payne started leaving tickets to home games for her and her family. Before and after the games, Lacey would run on the court and give Adreian hugs. She even started calling him "Superman". Payne says that Lacey is the one that gives him the super strength.
If you were going through a devastating time in your life... what would you do to bring you hope or make you happy again?
Do you think there should be a program set up to help little kids that have cancer connect with college athletes?

Good job!!
Ah, this is so sweet! If I was ever in Lacy's situation, I would love it if someone like Adreian visited me and was so nice to me. This is an amazing experience for her! That is so awesome!
That's an amazing story. I think so many people pay attetnion to college athletes and it would be amazing to have a program to involve them in kids.
Its really great that he is supporting her during her fight and that not only does he give her strength to fight but how she also gives him strength.
This story makes me smile. I wish more kids had an opportunity to do this because it can change a little girls life. I'm sure the player and girl are very happy and the little girl won't give up.
I think that it would be a great idea to set up a program with college athletes to help sick children. Payne is amazing for helping keep lacey's spirit and hope up, she really needs it.
It is nice to see that a basketball star like Payne taking time from practice to visit this little girl.
That is so cool, i think more athletes should take time to do this.
This is a very cool story. Payne could be worrying about his basketball career. Yet, he visits the girl and maintains a relationship. It is great that it can give both of them strength. It would be cool if more college athletes would do this.
I don't know what I would do if I was in the girl's situation. Obviously it would be hard for me and my family, and am happy that a college player would be so nice to bring joy and happiness to another life. I think it would be a great idea to have a program for cancer patients to connect with athletes that inspire them.
