Michelle Obama vs. Trump

Summary:

On October 13, Michelle Obama gave a speech at a Hillary Clinton rally in New Hampshire. Although she never called him out by name, it's clear her speech was about Trump. She also stated how great of a president she thinks Hillary would be. She expressed her concern about Trump and how we shouldn't expose our kids to his obscene language and his remarks about women.

She even said that Hillary is the most suited president because she has more experience and exposure to the presidency than anybody that has ever ran for president (including her own husband [Barack] and Hillary's husband [Bill]) Below you will find some quotes from the speech that I believe were the most important.

Questions:

What do you think about Michelle Obama's speech?

Who would you vote for? Why?

My Opinion:

I think it's great that she's expressing her concern and trying to get people to see from her point of view and why she wants people to vote for Hillary.

Personally, I don't want either of them. But, since it's either one or the other I would much rather have Hillary. I would much rather have someone who has experience than someone with no experience at all. Michelle pointed out that Hillary has more experience than any other candidate that has ever run for president. She also said that we shouldn't expose our children to Trump.

It's true though. We shouldn't expose our children to somebody like that. What kind of example would that set to boys and girls? Boys would think it's okay to sexually harass and disrespect women and girls would think this is normal and how they should be treated. But, the fact is this isn't normal and like Michelle said it's about basic human decency. But, we're all entitled to our own opinions.

Important Quotes:

  • “The fact is that in this election was have a candidate who over the course of his lifetime has said things about women that are so shocking, so demeaning, that I simply won’t repeat any of it.”

  • I can’t believe I’m saying that a candidate for president of the United States has bragged about sexually assaulting women. I can't stop thinking about it. It has shaken me to my core in a way I couldn’t have predicted.”

  • “This was a powerful individual speaking freely and openly about sexually predatory behavior, and actually bragging about kissing and groping women, using language so obscene that many of us were worried about our children hearing it when we turned on the TV.”

  • “Too many are treating this like it’s just another headline… As if this is normal. Just politics as usual. But this isn’t normal or politics as usual. This is disgraceful. It is intolerable. It doesn’t matter what party you belong to no women deserves this. None of us deserve this kind of abuse.”

  • “This isn’t about politics it’s about basic human decency. It’s about right and wrong. And we simply can’t endure this or expose our children to this any longer. Not for another minute,  and let alone for 4 years.”

  • “We also teach our kids that you don't take shortcuts in life, and you strive for meaningful success in whatever job you do. Well, Hillary has been a lawyer, a law professor, First Lady of Arkansas, First Lady of the United States, a U.S. senator, Secretary of State. And she has been successful in every role, gaining more experience and exposure to the presidency than any candidate in our lifetime — more than Barack, more than Bill. And, yes, she happens to be a woman.

  • Super job Tara! Great summary and you did an outstanding job replying back to comments!

  • Yes, Hillary has many great points and more experience, but that doesn't mean she is the most suitable for president. She was first lady quite a few years ago for Bill. Many things have changed since then. But honestly, is Hillary any better than Trump? If Hillary is all about kids, why is she so willing to push for abortion even when they are almost at full term? Hillary is a liar and a criminal. Trump is rude. Trump talked about touching a women 11 years ago. He never actually did it. See the difference? If I were of age, I would vote for Trump. Who knows what else Hillary is hiding behind her emails. What more is she willing to do for this abortion thing? Kill the child after birth? But Trump just has a few foul words that everyone has heard. So yes, I would vote for Trump.

    • Yeah, they both have their great points and bad points. I don't agree with the abortion thing unless it is posing a severe threat to woman or a young girl (like 12-15) got raped and ended pregnant. But, I do believe experience does make her more suitable for president. Trump is rude but that isn't the only reason I think he's unsuitable for presidency.

  • while it is true Hillary may have more experience with politics and the presidency but maybe thats the issue in general. Perhaps she is too political, she is too experienced. she is a liar and a thief not to mention a murder, at least trump is honest about his views and everything he says. I think that Hiliray had asked michelle for some help, like a last ditch effort because she is losing followers so close to the election and she is desperate.

    • I don't think there's really such a thing as "too political and too experienced when it comes to the presidential position. You need a lot of political and experience to even be decent at the job. I don't really think Trump is honest about everything he says. It's probably true that she asked for some help, but it could've been for other reasons. The campaign is so close she probably was just trying to win over another state.

  • I'd vote for Trump because Hillary is liar. She lies about her emails, Benghazi, and she isn't going to change America. We don't need someone in the White House just to keep America the same. We need someone to help America and change it.

    • I believe Hillary would change it more than Trump. But, I also believe he'd be better qualified to deal with our debt situation. But political aspects? Definitely Hillary. Yeah, it's bad that Hillary has lied about emails and other things, but I"m pretty sure Trump has lied about a lot more. Just my opinion though.

  • Michelle's speech was good. I think how she expressed her concerns for the people of America. I would vote for a third party because both of them have really good points and really bad points. They both have do and said some terrible things. I think that both would do more harm then they would do good.

    • I never even thought about voting for a third party. That's a good idea. I agree they'd do more harm than good. But, I guess the question to ask ourselves is who would do less harm? Trump or Hillary? I believe Hillary because Trump has no political experience and has no idea what he's doing.

  • Michelle does a good job addressing how Trump feels and acts toward different things. The way he acts isn't okay but Hillary has done some bad things and being investigated by the FBI so I would vote for Trump.
