On Thursday, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, cancelled a meeting with Donald Trump. The meeting which was scheduled to be set for next Tuesday (January 31) was going to include talks about plans on building a wall across the border. Nieto had continued to insist that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall. According to Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell, building the wall would cost anywhere from $12 to $15 billion. Enrique said in a video statement that Mexico doesn't believe in walls, and that Mexico will not be paying for any wall.
These two leaders have been going at it ever since President Trump started his campaigning. Trump had called some Mexicans that were entering the US criminals and rapists and the tensions had just kept on throughout Trump's campaign. Over the last 24 hours they have escalated quickly when Trump took action on Wednesday saying he wanted to start the construction of putting a wall up.
Questions:
1. If you were Trump and you found out that the Mexican President is cancelling the meeting now what would you do?
2. Do you think building a wall is going to help and keep more illegals out of our country? Why or why not?
My opinion
If I was Trump I would keep talking to Enrique and try to come up with some deal that would allow the building of the wall. I believe that the wall would help to keep illegals out, but not 100% of them. We would also need to ramp up our border control and security, because that would help more to keep them out.

If I was Trump I would finally try and look at it from the others view and try and work something out. I don't believe that wall will keep any illegals out. They have been able to get by for years though it might delay them they will find a way around it like every other time.
I would jeep trying to schedule one and not give up on meeting them. I think it will help because there won't be a way for people to sneak past unless they scale the wall, which would take longer.
If I were Trump I would definitely be confused and angry, I would then ask the Mexican president privately why he cancelled the meeting and then try to re-schedule a new one. I think that the wall is a good idea but it probably wont do much as people will just find new ways to get into the country.
I think he should keep trying to reach him and plan a meeting and figure out a solution. I think it might help a little bit for a while but then they will figure out how to get under, over, or through it or maybe even do something like blow part of it up just to get through.
I would host a press conference and say that the president from Mexico doesn't want to cooperate with Donald Trump and therefor is not being a good ally with the United States. I think it will help a little bit but i feel like the wall isn't going to be maintained well enough to stop all leaks through the wall.
I would definitely try to change his mind to have the meeting and try to convince him to pay for the wall. I certainly think it will. There will be better security and special technology on the wall to keep illegals from entering our country.
I would find solution to the problem by talking to the president and consult him not to do that until everything has been cleared out, I think building a wall is going to help a little bit but also it can also cause enmity with the side.
I believe that there can be some sort of middle ground that the two can work out. Hopefully Trump can see that and he can talk and negotiate with Enrique. I think it will definitely help, but it won't keep all of them out. But it would definitely be more secure than what we have now.
If i was trump i would try to make another meeting to be on good terms. i think the wall is not going to help because in the past walls have not helped anyone.
