Mentally Challenged Man Shot

A man with toy gun was shot in Flordia. He was an autistic man, age 57. Police got calls about a man having a guy. It was so real looking and when the man pointed it at the police shots were fired and he died. His sister said he didn't deserve to die that way. His neighbors and family said he was a gentle and had been in the neighborhood for 31+ years. People don't understand that the police are going to treat someone like that like it was a real gun. Also it was said that you knew something was up, like he had mental issues. It is interesting, what do you think about guns? They make them for kids and kids have a blast with them, pretending they are shooting animals etc. My nephews have toy guns, and they are taught not to point at people, but to pretend and point at an animal. What do you think? I understand where the police are coming from, but it is sad to think that someone like him would be shot. I know he had mental issues, but even so, he should have enough sense hopefully not to point at an officer. Any thoughts?

  • I dont think he shoould have died that way. That is horrible
  • I think that that is super sad that he had to die that way. I also think that the officers should've been a little bit more calm about it, and waited to see if it was a real gun or not.
  • THATS HORRIBLE!!! That police officer should be fined!! thats really sad
  • I don't blame the police at all! The guy clearly was pointing a realistic gun. If they would have known that he had autusim and that it was a toy gun they would have. But what I don't understand is if he was living in that area for 31+ years don't you think that people would know he was and just called his sister or who ever takes care of him?!? And what kind of care taker guy an autistic 57 gave him a realistic gun and let him run the streets when the police are getting called on him.
  • I agree, i understand where the police would come from because they didn't know whether is was real or not but i think toy guns are just so realistic these days and i think that that can/could be a problem no a days because there are so many crazy people out there that would do something like a pull out a gun and just start shooting people. I do feels so, so bad for him and his family though:( but hopefully it will teach others a lesson.
  • yeah thats horrible its not his fault he shouldnt have died the sops are bad but i guess they couldnt really know if it was a real gun or not so i guess u cant really blame the police they were just doing there jobs but i think they should have to care of it better.
  • Ok this is so sad, but im pretty sure someone else had this story too! :) Haha
  • awh! :(  that is just plain terrible! why would someone do that? omg i feel so bad for him :(
