After President Trump's recent decision to pull troops out of Syria, former Defense Secretary James Mattis went on "Meet the Press" and said that "the enemy gets the vote". Mattis thinks that ISIS could start up again if their isn't U.S. troop presence in the Middle East and Syria where ISIS was most prominate. Since President Trump stated that he would pull troops out of Syria, it drew widespread critisism even from the Kurdish people who have been allies with the U.S. in the fight against ISIS. "It seems that the policy of the United States is to betray their friends and allies," said Mustafa Bali, the official Syrain Democratic Forces (SDF) spokesperson. President Trump later posted on Twitter that he was "trying to end the endless wars". In my opinion, the wars and conflicts in Syria should come to an end, but if it means that we have to stay there to ultimatly finish the fight, then we should. And as for the situation with the Kurds and Turkey, both are allies of the U.S. but the Kurds have been assisting with fighting ISIS, and to pick a side between Turkey and the Kurds might just highten tensions. If the U.S. backs out all together, ISIS could resurge and we could possibly see a conflict between the Kurds and Turkey.

If you were the President and knew the situation with ISIS, and the Kurds and Turkey, would you pull the troops out or keep them in?
I would keep troops in, but lower the number so that we might be able to attack at a moments notice, but return and regroup any other troops.
How might a situation like this affect the upcoming Presidential Elections in 2020?
This could be situation that helps the American people decide who they might vote for. Some of the Democrats have called for different military actions in the Middle East, and so with this in mind, it would change the views of many citizens as to who they might vote for whether that be switching from Democrat to Republican, or Republican to Democrat or to another canidate.

Well done overall Eric! Be sure to comment three different days next time and you also should have pages with no replies from you.
I would keep the troops in but more than likely lower the amount of troops down a considerable amount. It might effect the presidential election because it could help soem of the people in our country decide who they want to vote for.
If i was the president i would send all my troups so that ik i will win but it would be smart to wait with some then send them later. If we did not win they will think as Trump as a failur.
For the time being, if I were President Trump, I would not make any significant changes in the Middle East until it seems fit. I do not think this will have much impact on the 2020 election, because Trump has made many controversial decisions in the past that did not affect his popularity with voters.
I agree I would keep fewer troops in there and I would just make sure we had one very large base there. One a the people running could just say that they would just keep more people in there and end the war forever and just not do it for a very long time.
I don’t know for sure what I would do but you had a good point about pulling some of the troops out but leaving some just in case there is an attack and then we could still defend until we get reinforcements. I’m not sure if you would affect the 2020 election very much just because it is not the biggest point in the grand scheme of things.
I think that our President Donald Trump made an extremely ill advised decision and should have listened to his peers. By taking troops out of Syria we now run the risk of ISIS gaining power again and those prisoners are just runnning lose without someone to take control of them. This will greatly hurt donald trump and his chances for reelection are slim
I fully trust president Trump, which is why I agree with his decision to pull the troops out of Syria. I think it is good that he has allowed them to finally get home to their families. This gives them an opportunity to come home and have some time to regroup and get ready to be called back if it is needed. I believe that this could affect the election both negatively or positively depending on what side of the political spectrum you are on. If you agree with the choice, it may have just secured your vote for Trump. This is a very interesting topic, and may have a very big impact in the upcoming events.
I think that we should bring them home and maybe send out special troops to get the inside of what's going on there. If people are for or agenst will depend on how the election will go and that won't be known untill the election is over.
I would keep the trops there if it meant to ead the war with isis for good but take half of them out so they can go home to their family. People might not like it so they will vote for someone that will keep the trops in Syria and keep isis undercontrol.
