Maroon 5 Faces Backlash For Their Performance

On Thursday, February 29, Maroon 5 was to be playing at a song festival in Chile. This event was referred to as Viña del Mar. They showed up 30 minutes later to their set. This event made many fans upset. One fan reported that Levine "lacked energy to interact with the audience." Levine then posted on Instagram saying "[the] fans deserve an explanation. He then went on saying how his feelings got the best of him. The band's representatives blamed this issue on technical difficulties. "While we can't always make up for our past, we can absolutely try our best to learn from it ... thank you Chile for giving me the opportunity to grow," Levine said.

Questions:

1. If you were at this concert and was waiting for 30 minutes would you have stayed?

Although it was a long time to wait, I think it would have gone by fast. All of the adrenaline in me would make time fly by.

2. If this situation happened to you, would you still be a fan?

Yes. Everybody goes through rough times. The fact that he even showed up shows how much he loves to share his music.

  • I think that even if I waited such a long time, I still paid the money to be there and it was still worth it. Sometimes places don't give refunds, especially when you were already at the concert. I agree that I would have sat and waited it out for them to come.

  •  If I was at this concert and I was waiting for 30 minutes I think I'd stay because the concert would overall be fun and I think waiting 30 minutes would go by fairly quickly and it wouldn't feel like a long time. If I were in this situation I would still be a fan because I understand thing happen and they get in the way.

    • I agree with you. Even if I were alone or with friends I still would have stayed and had a great time. During that thirty minutes I could have gotten something to eat so that I wouldn't have to leave during the concert and get something to eat. So it all worked out in the end.

  • I would have stayed if it was a band that I really liked. If it truly was technical difficulties, the fans should not be mad at the band. 30 minutes is not that long of a wait, and the band was just trying to fix their problems. I would still be a fan if this happened.

  • Yeah if it was a band that I really liked then I would end up staying and just waitng because not everything goes as planed and I understand that. If this situation happend to me then i would be ok with it becuase If they messed up and apologized about it then Im more acceptable for it.

    • I agree that it would be worth the wait. If its someone that I would really like to see I would wait. I also agree that everyone messes up, I would still be pretty upset because I paid to hear music, not to wait or sit around. I think the people who were there the longest should get like half of their money back. I don’t think a person should let their feelings get in the way of doing their job.

      • I see what you are saying and I afree with the part about them getting a refund of some type because yes they paid. How ever when it comes to feeling getting in the way i think that its sorta ok for this to happen now and then because he is a person of fame and his job is pretty much his daily life so Id give him a pass on this one. As long as it doesnt happen all the time.

        • I disagree, I do not think that it is right when feelings get in the way. If I were him then I would have re-schedule the show. It’s not right to put on a half-butt show when they paid. If it were a onetime thing, I could get over it. But if it were to happen repeatedly, I would not be okay with it.

          • I agree with you on the re-scheduling the show because of its quality. I also agree with the you shouldnt let the feeling get in the way but since we are only human I think its ok it let it slid just once as long as it doesnt happen again.

            • I also want to think about how many of the people that went don’t live in the town that he performed in. Like when people from around here go to the city to watch concerts. Most of those people had to spend money to drive there, spend money to get in, spend money for food, and maybe even spend money to park. That bill could get pricey.
