Maroon 5 Faces Backlash For Their Performance

On Thursday, February 29, Maroon 5 was to be playing at a song festival in Chile. This event was referred to as Viña del Mar. They showed up 30 minutes later to their set. This event made many fans upset. One fan reported that Levine "lacked energy to interact with the audience." Levine then posted on Instagram saying "[the] fans deserve an explanation. He then went on saying how his feelings got the best of him. The band's representatives blamed this issue on technical difficulties. "While we can't always make up for our past, we can absolutely try our best to learn from it ... thank you Chile for giving me the opportunity to grow," Levine said.

Questions:

1. If you were at this concert and was waiting for 30 minutes would you have stayed?

Although it was a long time to wait, I think it would have gone by fast. All of the adrenaline in me would make time fly by.

2. If this situation happened to you, would you still be a fan?

Yes. Everybody goes through rough times. The fact that he even showed up shows how much he loves to share his music.

  • Though I would be a little irritated, I probably would have stayed. If I went all the way to Chile to see them, I'm gonna try and get something out of the concert. I would still be a fan of their music. Everyone has their off days, and celebreties and influencers are just the same.

    • I agree with you. I might have been a little disappointed, but that would all change once the band came on and started to play. It was still a good experience for most people. He apologized to his fans, which shows how much he cares.

  • I would have stayed, thirty minutes isn't very long and plus you payed a good amount of money to watch the concert. Yes because it isn't that big of a deal, many artists have cancelled there performances, but at least he came to his.

  • I would have stayed at the concert even though I would have to wait 30 minutes. I would have already paid for it and like you said, the adrenaline would make the time fly by. Also, after this situation I would still be a fan. The fact that he was late does not mean he dosen't care about his fans for career.

    • I agree with you 100%. Like I said earlier I believe that this situation was taken way over the top then it should have been because he was a celeb. Which is understandable. He shows his love and support for his fans.

  • I think I would stay for sure even if I had to wait for 30 minutes. I mean Concert tickets are expensive and I had already paid for it so a little bit of waiting time will be worth what I paid for. I see how many people would be mad but I would still be a fan. I don't think that 30 minutes is that big of a deal once it's over an hour, yes but 30 minutes is okay.

    • I agree with you. Even though people were angry, he did apologize. He said he was sorry for disappointing them. It was a personal issue and everyone goes through rough times once and awhile.

  • Yeah if it was a concert I was really excited to see or really liked I probably would wait but it would be annoying to have to wait an extra half hour for the concert to start . Yeah I would because just because they had some technical difficulty with themself and equipment dosent mean you should just stop liking their band and not be a fan anymore

  • I agree that I would still be a fan of Maroon 5 if this situation happened to me. I agree with you that everyone has bad days, and everyone just makes them seem like bad guys because they have a huge public platform and many people watch them. To me, it's really not a big deal.

    • Yes, they're such a good band, that even if they were late I would still love what they do and their music. I agree with you on it not being a big deal. I think that because it was a celeb it was taken out of hand.
