Maroon 5 Faces Backlash For Their Performance

On Thursday, February 29, Maroon 5 was to be playing at a song festival in Chile. This event was referred to as Viña del Mar. They showed up 30 minutes later to their set. This event made many fans upset. One fan reported that Levine "lacked energy to interact with the audience." Levine then posted on Instagram saying "[the] fans deserve an explanation. He then went on saying how his feelings got the best of him. The band's representatives blamed this issue on technical difficulties. "While we can't always make up for our past, we can absolutely try our best to learn from it ... thank you Chile for giving me the opportunity to grow," Levine said.

Questions:

1. If you were at this concert and was waiting for 30 minutes would you have stayed?

Although it was a long time to wait, I think it would have gone by fast. All of the adrenaline in me would make time fly by.

2. If this situation happened to you, would you still be a fan?

Yes. Everybody goes through rough times. The fact that he even showed up shows how much he loves to share his music.

  • I would wait extra minutes to see the performance, especially since I would have paid to get into the concert. Personally, I'm not a fan of Maroon 5 but I don't hate them either. But if this did happen with a band I really like, I would probably be upset at the lack of energy but not be so angry that I would stop being a fan.

  • 1. Yes, because it was probably very expensive. I am a more patient person, and I would probably last more like an hour. But after that point, due to knee problems, I probably wouldn't be able to stand so then I would leave.

    2. Yes. I love Maroon 5 and understand that things happen. I would be pissed but I wouldn't ban all music from my ears.

  • I would stay cause even though they are a bit late Im sure the tickets were expensive and if i went out of my way to go see them i would wait. Things happen, even though they are famous that doesnt mean they need to be perfect and spend all their time and energy just making fans happy. The fact he does do so much for his fans like apologize proves how much he truly care so of course i would still be a fan.

  • if I waited for 30 minutes for a concert would I stay, I would, I already paid to get in so I would stay. In this situation would I still be a fan, Yes i would still be a fan in this situation, because I would want the music and would really care if they were late to a concert

  • I 've been to a concert where the performers were thirty minutes late and we stuck around to see them. Everyone has a bad day and if it just so happens that you get to see them on that day, it's still an amazing oppurtunity. Plus, tickets are always expensive. I can only imagine the price of tickets to go see Maroon 5, so adding a half hour wait time is like nothing compared to how much you've put in to already coming.

  • If I was at a concert and had to wait 30 minutes I would have stayed because I already paid for tickets and traveled to see it. It probably wouldn't feel as long as you'd think since you're having fun being there. I would still be a fan if this happened to me. A 30 minute shouldn't make someone mad enough to make them not be a fan anymore.

  • 1. Well yea they're like 150 dollar tickets, you'll be waiting hours to get in and get good spots anyway, I could wait thirty minutes more. Or just not have gone in ther first place because its Maroon 5.

    2. If I was a fan in the first place, yea I guess.

    • The prices of tickets depend on where you sit. For example, the pit is the highest price seat. If I were to be sitting or standing there I would wait with excitement to see my favorite band.

  • I also would of stayed, because I paid for the tickets and a 30 minute wait would probably go by fast. If this situation happened to me, I would still be a fan, because, like you said, everybody goes through rough times, and celebrities can be late to things to. I agree that since he showed up, it shows how much he loves to share his music.

    • I agree with you Megan. I would have also stayed because I wouldn't let tickets go to waste. I also think that since he showed up after going through what ever he went through show that he cares about his fans and his music.
