The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, made a blog and posted that he is wanting to make the users information more private. He says that he wants to do this by not keeping any data that is very private and not keeping data that is not that private for very long. If Mark Zuckerberg does make Facebook a more private site it could take Facebook and every other company owned by Facebook such as, Messenger and Instagram in a new direction.

1)Do you think that Facebook should make this change? Why or whynot?

I think that they should sell some of the information but not the very private information. If they do not sell some information it could be very bad for the company's profits and they might not be able to provide as many services.

2) Do you think that Facebook will actually make these changes?
I think that there is a chance that Facebook will just be saying this stuff so that people will start to put their faith back into Facebook after their scandal for selling private information to advertising companies.

  • Sorry but this needed to be posted before Wednesday.

  • I think that Facebook changing to keep users' information private is a good idea, people's private information should not be sold. I think that storing all the information puts you at a risk of stolen information and identity. I think that it could also poorly affect the company, probably would not be making as much. I think it is possible for it to actually happen, but I feel like they would more just say it to get more people using Facebook.

  • I think that they should change some of the information in facebook like where you live because someone could easily find you and kidnap you or something but then again, many people might then not use it as much. I think that sometime in the future they will make this change because people don't like when there information is sold to people...like private information that other people do  not need to know.

  • I think that making changes like this could change the way users think when using Facebook and if they even want to continue using it. A lot of Facebook's active members are older users nowadays. There is a chance that they will but it all depends on how people react to this.

  • I think that they should update and makes changes. It is always good to add new things and make things safer for consumers.  I think that they will eventually make these changes to see if it will help them out. They just want to try out new things.

  • I think they should do this because there's always a risk of too much of the private information being sold or stolen. I think this will help Facebook after their privacy scandal that was all over the news and put in place more preventative measures from something bad happening. I hope Facebook does this because they did a lot of stuff with people's information behind their backs and it hurt the view of their brand and trust people had.

  • Making this change could be a very risky change for the company because their profits could go up or they could plummet but I think they should make the change because it could be very helpful. I think there is a chance but I think they need to do it and keep their word because of their scandal they had way back.

  • I do think they should make things more private, there are many things that shouldn't be needed for a social media page. I mean think of the little kids who don't know how to use it, they don't know what kind of creeps are stalking them the kids could put where they live, their full names, passwords, and many other things. I don't know if they will make the changes but I hope they do.

  • I think that they should keep the very private information, but sell the non-private information, I also believe that if some type of information doesn't get sold that it would bring the company profits down. I think that Facebook may make these changes, but I'm not totally sure that they will.
