The controversial performance of Mariah Carey's, good or bad, was definitely one for the books. The whole situation was caused by a "malfunctioning" ear piece provided to Carey by Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve staff. She was scheduled to perform at the famous Dick Clark's New Year Rockin' Eve on New Year's Eve; from the very first song she was tripping over the lyrics because she couldn't hear the music from her ear piece and the piece wouldn't stay in. She also was lip-syncing and was talking while you could hear some of her high notes. Carey's production team is blaming Dick Clark's staff for the mess up, her people claim "They we're setting her up for failure." Dick Clark Productions fired back a statement saying "[Whoever] intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd," to CNN. Mariah also tweeted that night that "stuff happens" after her horrendous show and wished everyone a happy and healthy New Year.
Questions
How did you respond to the NYE performance? Do you support her actions?
If you were Mariah how would you respond to this situation? Would you be upset or angry?
My Opinion
I was shocked that she wasn't singing and was kind of calling out the the sound system people during the performance. It was a bit inappropriate because she could've just walked off stage and ask for a new ear piece.
I would have been mad but I wouldn't blow it up to be this big thing like it is now.

Great job!
her actions where ok i gess but she could have thought threw a bit more than what she did
id be upset but id get over it and move on
I think her reaction was a bit dramatic. She could have handled the situation differently. I would have been a little upset, especially means it has happened before. I would not have handled it like she would. It's an opportunity to be offered a performance there and she made herself look bad. I feel like she could have asked for help from the staff and then continued the show.
I would have been upset that my earpiece wasn't working and wasn't staying in but I would've not made that big of deal about it. I would've tried to sing to what I could hear, instead of making a big scene. I think her reaction was a little bit too much. She could've been professional about it and tried to continue the show.
I don't support her actions she had a great opportunity to sing at a huge event and lip syncing wasn't the way to go. There are tons of celebs who would have loved to actually sing at this event but didn't have the chance to. If I were Mariah I first off wouldn't have decided before hand that I would lip sync I would have taken the opportunity and made it huge even with the malfunctions. She could have easily asked fans to sing without any of the music and it would have made things 100 times more special.
I would be upset that my earpiece was not staying in. I really do not like how she lip-sang her performance. If I has the honor of singing there, I would want to us my own voice and not just a recording. If I was Mariah I would not do a lot of things about the situation. Sure I would be upset, but it's not the end of the world.
I agree! It would be a great experience and you should be true to yourself and you fans. And that is also completely true, a little help doesn't kill anyone
It didn't bother me the least. Sure I was wondering what was going on and how such a professional could mess up so poorly. But after hearing what actually happened it all makes sense to me and isn't a big deal. I would just go with the flow. I wouldn't be upset, it happens.
I think she could have handled it better and have just asked for some help. It isn't a huge deal but she could have had a bit more courtesy to the company and to her fans she let down.
I think that her reaction was a little over the top. She could have taken that situation with a different attitude and continued the show. I would have been a little upset due to the fact that she said it had been broken before, but still wouldn't have stormed off the stage.
