Mapleton, Iowa Hit WIth Tornado

Mapleton, Iowa was hit with a tornado on April 9, 2011. It had flattened over half of the town. The tornado carried winds of 165 miles per hour and streached to 3/4 of a mile wide. There were no serious injuries.

the damage is really bad. there are some houses that are completely gone but all of the stuff inside is still there.

that thing did alot of damage it was wierd seeing it while we were there on wednesday helping out all of the destuction that went on

I think it's awesome that people went to Mapleton yesterday to help with the clean up. Every little bit helps.

I think it's cool that students from our school got a chance to go over to Mapleton and help out with the clean up.

Went there to help out today.. It was pretty bad. Houses and businesses are just demolished. Gone forever. it felt pretty good to contribute to the clean up though

Anyone else find it ironic that Harlan, the Cyclones, are going to help repair Mapleton which was hit by a tornado? I thought it was kinda funny, haha

I think its terriable of what happened. I really hate that things like that have to happen.

This looks really bad. I guess that they were lucky that no one got seriously injured.

It's kind of amazing that nobody ended up getting injured when it was such a devestation to the town itself.
