On January 20th, a 24 year old Jordanian man broke into a bank with a soap bubble gun and threatened to infect the bank teller with AIDS. He entered the postal bank in the Southern city of Beersheba. He wrote a note to the bank teller in Hebrew that said, "This is a robbery. Give me the money quick or I will stab you with a bloody needle. I am sick with AIDS." He filled the clear plastic part of his fake bubble gun with a red liquid to make it look like blood. One of the bank tellers handed the man some cash but called the cops right as he fled. The police went into investigation that same day anf quickly found out who the suspect was but did not release his name. The next day the man tried to pull the same stunt on a different bank. But there was undercover cops waiting for him to try and rob another bank and before he got the chance to rob the bank the police caught him. During the investigation the police found out he was in the country illegally. The suspect was due for court hearing on Thursday.
What do you think motivated this man to try and rob these banks?
I personally think this man was definitely on drugs and he wasn't thinking straight when he tried to rob these banks. Or he could have not been able to afford anything for himself and tried to get money by robbing a bank instead of sitting on the street and asking for money.
What would you think if you were one of the police officers on the scene? What would you do if you were one of the officers?
I would not believe my eyes because I would not expect anyone to try to rob a bank with a fake gun and a syringe and try to get away with it. Especially if he was trying to rob two banks. I would ask him why he was trying to rob these banks then put him in jail.

Well done Ashton!
This person likely robbed the banks because he didn't have any money, and was not worried if he was captured since he is already here illegally. If I was a police officer at the scene I would be cautious around the man in case he actually had AIDS.
I totally agree. I never thought of it the way you did incase the man actually does have AIDS. But I agree that he did not have any money and since he was already in the country illegally he just figured he would do more illegal things.
I think what motivated the man to try and rob the banks was both the need for money, obviously, and possibly the potential that he was under the influence. The fact that he was in the country llegally could possibly show that he needed money to survive in his new country. However, drugs is also a big problem, so that might''ve motivated his decisions as well.
I completely agree with you. He was probably under the influence of drugs or alcohal. He needed money to potentially support his family if he has a family. I am not sure why he would rob two banks if he knows he is in the country illegally.
I don't think this man was in the right mindset. Maybe he was just trying to get money to support his family and could not thing of a better way to do that. If I was trying to catch him, I would sit at the bank he was about to rob and put him in jail.
I agree. He was not thinking right and he needed to come up with some money to support his family is he has one and robbing a bank was the only way he could think of. The undercover cops were waiting for him to rob the second bank then they caught him.
I think that this man was looking for money, especially because he is in the country illegally. He probably couldn't afford a real gun either so he used a bubble gun. If I were one of the officers, I would be wondering what is going through this man's head. I would be extra cautious and try not to make things worse.
I totally agree with everything you said. He was definitely desperate for money and he decided to rob a bank to get money. He couldn't afford a real gun so he had to use one that shoots out bubbles. I wouldn't try to make things worse because the man is obviously crazy.
Since he is here illegaly, he probably can't get a job, therefore, he needs money so he is robbing banks. I would arrest him if I was one of the officers.
