Man jumps to his death at Grand Canyon Skywalk

Authorities say that the 28 year old man jumped from the Grand Canyon around 4:30 Saturday. The sky walk was a walkway so you can see all the things around the Grand Canyon. The Skywalk opened in 2007. The drop that the man had made was 500-800 feet vertically. An average of 12 people die every year at the Grand Canyon, most of the deaths are from accidental falls, but other ways people have died is from drowning in the Colorado river and overheating. The national park service tries to make the Grand Canyon safer for tourist by recommending that they stay atleast 6 feet from the edge.

1 If you went to the Grand Canyon would you get close to the edge?

Knowing me I'd still get close to the edge but I would be very careful and I wouldn't be on the edge for very long.

2. Would you still want to go to the Grand Canyon knowing there has been so many deaths?

Yes, I would still go to the Grand Canyon but I would be very careful and make sure people aren't being dangerous.

  • Nope not even close I am to afraid of heights as it is that would not help.

Yes and considering how many people come there a year it's still very little compared to that. I also wouldn't let anything get in the way of a good adventure.

  • I think that it would be a very cool place to visit, but I am scared of heights so I would not get close to the edge. I think I would still go and tour it because it a very know landmark of the United States, and I would never get close enough to accidentally fall off of the edge.

  • I would not get too close to the edge, I do not like heights and the thought of accidentally slipping and falling that far would be very scary so I would definately stay as far away and possible and I probably wouldn't even go on the skywalk.

Yes I would still go to the Grand Canyon knowing there has been that many deaths. I think the Grand Canyon would be a cool place to visit. And I think everyone should go at least once in their lifetime to experience it.

  • If i went to the Grand Canyon, I probably would go towars the edge out of curiosity, but no to close. I would still go to the Grand Canyon because it's a beautiful place to visit. Though there is many deaths it doesn't scare me enough into staying away.

  • I probably would not go close to the edge if I went to the Grand Canyon because I am terrified of heights and probably wouldn't want to look down in the canyon. I would still like to go see the Grand Canyon because it is a beautiful sight, and there are accidents everywhere and you can't let that fear stop you. However, there are some safety precautions that need to be taken into serious consideration.

  • I would not I have a big fear of hights to I would stay as far away as possible from the side

I think I would just to see the view but I wouldnet want to be up there for very long

  • If I went to visit the Grand Canyon I would want to go to the edge and take a picture, but I would most likely be scared and not get to the edge because it isn’t worth dying for a picture or a view. You can die anywhere you go so I don't think you should not go because people have died. So yes, I would still go there.

  • If I went to the Grand Canyon I would not get close to the edge at all. I'd probably stay at least ten to fifteen feet away from the edge. This is because first of all, I am terrified of heights. Next, it would probably be windy up there so I'd stay even farther away because I'm terrified of something dangerous happening.

  • If I went to the Grand Canyon I would get close to the endge so I could get a good view and see everything but not to close to were I'm scared of falling. I would still go even though there have been so many deathes because they have put rules up (like stay 6 feet away from edge) to keep peole safe and some of the people dying are people not fallowing those rules.
