A video of a chinese passenger being dragged off a United Airlines plane on a plane heading from Chicago to Louisville. After he got dragged off he had a bloody nose and he was dazed while the event was happening. Tens of thousands of chinese people seen the video and are outraged because it happen to him because he was chinese. I person told police after he heard some other passengers talking about how he was chinese in the seat around him. The officers then removed the passenger from the overbooked flight. It was the number one trending topic on Tuesday on the China's verson on Twitter "Weibo". This video attrached more than 100 million views from around the world and many people are saying that it was discrimination. Others are going to boycott the use of using United Airlines. Even a Chinese-born comedian by the name of Joe Wong say that many people feel like they have been discriminated from the even that happened. The airline crew that was on the plane at the time said that four crew members needed to get on a flight that was departing from Louisville otherwise the flight would get canceled. The crew asked some of the passengers on the flight to give up there seat voluntarily. After no one volunteered to give up their seats the crew then forced people to give them up. The man in the video was selected along as 3 other passengers, United denied that they chose him because of hus ethnicity.

Questions

1. If you were in China on a plane about to takeoff and got dragged off of it would you feel discriminated for it?

I would think that it would because I am american and that maybe many people would not like me to be on the flight so then I would be forced off because of it.

2. Do you think that United Airlines chose this person because he was chinese and that the USA and China are not on good terms as of now?

I do think they chose this person on purpose because we are not on good terms with China right now and there are so many more people that they could have chosen for it.

  • Good job overall. Be sure to comment three different days.

  • 1) I beleive I would. I don't really think that it's the fact that these chineese people hate us it is just that we are a differnt race so people believe that it's right for us to get off.

    2) Yes and no. I believe that when they drew his ticket it was right for him to get kicked off the plane. He was chose he was the one that was supposed to go off the plane. Also, I think they did it beecause Trump would think it would look good.

  • 1- Yes I would feel like it was discrimination. Why me (or this man) out of every other passenger? And why so forcefully he paid to be on that flight clearly he's not going to want to get off and hope he'll be able to catch another flight. I remember this story this man had a family to go home to. 2- I think they chose him on purpose, whether it's because we're on bad terms with china, or they just figured he'd be an easy target. And once he said that he didn't want to why was he forced to leave? It leaves no room for there to be another acceptable reason.

    • Yes I agree with you that if someone paid to be on or in something then they should be able to get a refund or maybe they should safe some seats for the people that need to be on there so that they would not have to kick someone off.

  • Depends on why they are dragging me off a plane if I would feel discriminated. But this should never happen it's plain rude. They might have just dragged him of because he was chinese which is awful.

  • I would probably assume that it would be because I am American but I'd never really know the true reason. I don't know what the airline was thinking but they should have been more polite instead of dragging him off the plane.

  • If I was in China and got dragged off right before it was about to take off I would be livid and feel descriminated against. Their would be no reason to drag me off a plane like a sack of potatos. I would defenitly press chargers against the airline and make sure they never do it to anyone else.

  • Yes lately airport have been very dangrous and hateful due to flight attendence piolits and the people who put the bags on the plane come on it shouldnt be this hard to do things like this. Why do they even do it.

  • Yes, the united airlines didn't have a good reason for dragging only him off the plane so it sounds odd that he was dragged off. I don't understand how the flight was overbooked, don't they have limits on how many people can get plane tickets for that flight? I really don't know if United Airlines was discriminating against the chinese man, I feel like they weren't, they just chose someone at random to take off.

    • Yea I would agree with you on that they did not have a good reason to drag to person off the plane and the only reason that they could think of was that they needed some people to get on the next flight.
