On April 20th, 2021, at 3:32 p.m. police received the call that "females were there trying to stab them and put their hands on them." Upon arrival, the police saw the teenage girl had a knife. After seeing this, the officer yelled, "Hey, hey, hey, hey. Get down." After this request, Makhia still went after a girl and stabbed her. After she stabbed one of the two girls that were there. the officer tells her to "Get Down! Get down! Get down !Get down!" before she lunges at the other girl with a knife. When she proceeded to approach the second girl, the officer fired four shots at Makhia.
Many famous people such as Lebron James were quick to be on twitter and voice their opinions. Most of the famous people were against the cops and said that they didn't have to shoot her that fast, and that they could have had different ways to break up the fight. Lebron said that he is so tired of seeing black people killed by police. But after a few hours, when people were thinking logically and were explaining the situation, but he claimed that he took it down because it was "spreading more hate."
I personally think that the police are in the right. If you are going after people with a butcher knife, it doen't matter your age or your skin color, you are probably going to get shot. You can't just go after people with knives and expect not have concequences. I think that people like Lebron James need to keep their thoughts to themselfs when there is a situation like this that has nothing to do with race, and they try to make it a race issue and blame the cops for everything. I'm sure that if they were the ones getting stabbed that they would want the police to shoot the person that is stabbing them. I don't realize how awful of a place this country would be without police.
Do you think that popular people on social media need to stop blaming the poice for everything?
Do you think that the police are in the right?

Well done Braxton!
I believe that the police should stop being blamed for everything. If the officer did not shoot MaKhia, then she would've stabbed and potentially killed the other girl. The police would have gotten lots of backlash for allowing her to kill someone else.
Yes I think that popular people ned to stop blaming it all on the cops. I do think that the police were in the right in this situation concidering that the girl was told to stop and didnt, then stabbed a girl and then went at the other one and the cops were just doing there job to try and protect the other person.
I think that we could blame the police sometimes but not all the time but if you just shoot the person then we could blame them but yes I think we should blame the police beucase there the ones with the guns so I think you should blame the police.
Im fine with everyone having the right to say what they want on social media (within reason of course). I don't think that celebrities should go around using their fame to force an agenda down peoples throats left OR right on the political spectrum. It's a different thing if it's their job to talk politics though, and I think thats ok.
Yes I agree I think famous people like Lebron James shouldn't just go straight to twitter and other social medias and just start posting hate things against the police. He had no idea what the whole situation was and just immediatly started posting hate.
I think that popular people should be able to say what they want but they should atleast be right and have evidence before they post about it. I do think the police are in the right for what they did because if they didn't someone else could have gotten hurt.
I agree. They have the freedom of speech. I just think that maybe they should look into the situations more before they just instantly blame the police for everything. Not very often are the police wrong, so I think that it is only fair to the police for them to watch bodycam footage and look into the situation more before criticizing them.
In my opinion, police officers have to make fast decisions when doing their job. The police officers also have to deal with life threatening situations at work. I do think that most police officers try their best to serve justice and do the right thing. I do sometimes think that certain police officers do not need the blaming from popular people on social media.
I agree. It is hard to criticize them at all. Most of the people that are criticizing them have no idea on how police procedures work. They also have never been a cop so they shouldn't hate on them so much until they have been in their shoes.
