There has been a lot of debate on whether they should lower the voting age or not. They say there are a lot of pros and cons to it, but I feel there are more pros than cons.
Some pros of lowering the voting age are that it will help with voter turnout, and it could also help with lifelong voting habits. A lot of people feel 16-year-olds should vote because there getting to the age of understanding of what’s going on in the world and, they should have a voice in what goes on whether it's in-state or local elections.
Some cons would be that the 16-year-olds may not be mature enough to vote. Another reason people think it is bad is that research shows that 18-29-year-olds have low voter turnout; therefore, it would be pointless to lower the voting age. Finally, the main reason people do not want 16-year-old to vote in elections is that they feel parents persuade their kids to vote a certain way, and they specifically persuade them to vote in the way their parent’s political beliefs are.
I feel that they should lower the voting age because I feel the younger generations have major opinions on politics, and I feel we should have the right to vote in order to shape the future of America.
Should they lower the voting age? Why or Why not?
Would you vote if you had the chance to?

I dont think they should lower it. I dont think there best educated too. People will vote with friends or make a ranbom guess. I don't know if i would vote, If i did, i would vote with my family and do what they would chose.
I don't think they should lower the voting age because there is a lot of 16-year-olds out there that aren't educated in politics and will pick their vote off of what their friends vote for and not for what they truly think. I would vote if I had the chance because it is our right to vote.
they should not lower it cause then people will vote based on what their friends think and so you will vote for them just cause their friends did
They should not lower the age because 16-year-olds are just learning about politics and they don't have enough time to actually understand it all. They also are very young and are not yet adults. Many 16 year olds are still immature and would vote for people for dumb reasons.
I don't think that the voting age should be lowered because we are only 16 and we are still learning about everything. Some people don't know everything about politics and they might just randomly vote, and they don't actually know what it is really about.
I don't think they should lower the voting age to 16. Yes it would show more variety but most 16 year olds don't have their own opinion, most are influenced by their parents. I'm not saying that they all are, but definetally most. I would agree that there are still adults over the age of 18 that have their opinion influenced by their parents though. I'm not sure I would vote at 16 personally, I don't think I would trust myself.
I believe that lowering the age of voting to 16 would great show what most political topics are talked about and who they might favor more. Also in doing this would give people more of a sense of responsibility because their vote is going towards something they believe in.
I don't think the voting age should be 16 because most 16-year-olds are not very mature and are not very educated on politics, whereas when we are 18 we would most likely be more educated on politics and take voting more seriously since we would be more mature.
I don't think they should lower the voting age to 16 because kids who are 16 are still learning all the stuff behind politics and might not be educated well enough on the topic. I also don't think if 16 year olds could vote that all of them would take it seriously and could make it into a joke.
I think that if the age to vote were 16 that a lot of people would show up because they would all be talking about it in school and they could go with their friends. But after high school I don't feel like they would keep going. I think there are a lot of people that don't care though. And they wouldn't go. I probably would if my friends went and voted.
