Nine days after a train accident in New Jersey took a life and injured over one hundred, a derailment occurred about twenty miles east of Manhattan, New York. According to reporters, the event happened when the twelve-car train heading east, collided with a work train also going in the same direction, but on an adjacent track. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chairman is unaware why the work train was in the way of the other train, and they are going in to deeper research. The incident did not claim any casualties, but it did injure thirty three. The Transport authority staff is now going to "work around the clock to determine the cause of this derailment and restore service as quickly as possible."
1. With more train derailments and accidents occurring lately, would you be more opt to start driving instead of taking the train for transportation?
2. What do you think could have possibly caused this accident?
My Opinion: Personally, I think trains are kind of risky, especially since they haven't been updated so much lately. If I owned a car I would definitely start driving it more, but I think once they figure out the big problems, train safety should return to normal. I think the operators could have possibly communicated their locations wrong, or the time when they were going to be crossing tracks.

Good overall but be sure to comment more frequently.
If I lived in an area that relied a lot on trains for transportation, I would definitely start to consider driving. I think that the trains could have experienced a miscommunication in some way.
1. ) I would probably drive because it's easier access for us.
2.) Old rails, not paying attention, Bad communication, and over all carelessness for railroads.
Trains are still pretty safe in the long run. If you think about how many trains are going per day and how many crash the odds are very low of something bad happening. One of the trains may have stuck out in a spot and they might of rubbed together and one was forced off.
Yes I would rather drive than take a train because it is dangerous and you hear about them more and more. Maybe the rail was damaged or the train was not running right.
I don't take the train anyways because there are zero trains that you can ride around Harlan. But maybe the train was too wide or going to fast to catch up and hit the other train.
I still find trains a better way of transportation and I think the accidents are a big deal but it is no different then if a car would be in an accident. I think the accident of the two trains in New York happened maybe because one of the trains slipped off or something.
I never ride the train anyway so yeah I'll probably just stick to driving, but as for how this happened I honestly don't know it could be a number of things, from conductor error or the tracks might not have been up to date.
I think that everything around trains is getting out of date. The infrastructures still used are old. I would probably start driving until things are replaced and newer. I think for all of the train travel around the world there is bound to be a mistake somewhere and I think the operators just screwed up the times.
