On October 24th, a hiker, Katharina Groene met Nancy Abell when she gave her a ride to Stevens Pass. Nancy said that she tried to talk Groene out of continuing the journey knowing that the conditions weren't the best and she probably wasn't prepared, but she was persistent to reach the Canadian border. After a couple days, Abell got concerned about Groene and called the Snohomish County search and rescue. When she did this she knew lots of information, such as her pack weight, average daily mileage and the weather conditions. She was then spotted and the helicopter attempted to land 10 times but it was unable to because of the rough terrain and weather.
If you were Nancy do you think you would have called the search and rescue? If not, what would you have done?
Would you have let her hike up by herself or would you have tried to stop this before it happens?

Good job overall! Be sure to include personal thoughts/opinions within your summary. -6
No I would of just left her like yes she might be my friend but it was her idea and didn't want to listen when told not to go. If i knew what the weither was like and if I knew I was preapared than maybe I would go but it all just depends on the weither.
I think that they should have called because it would be faster and safer. I would have not let her go along on the moutains because since the weather condition are bad at least take someone thats experince.
I agree I think it would be faster and quicker to just call the search and rescue and let them do their jobs. I also think that she shouldn't have went hiking in the mountains if she hasn't had that much experience.
Yes, I would of but I also would of went looking for her as well. Like they said the helicopter tried to land 10 times Nacy could of been a big help with that. Well Nancy tried to talk her out of it and that didn't work so it would be the second one. I would of went up with her so she wasn't alone. Always never let anyone go alone anywhere because things can happen. I think by now people shouldn't let anyone go alone becuase of what has happened.
I agree I might have went looking for her but I don't think that Nancy would have really helped in the helicopter landing because it was the climate they couldn't land in. I also think that people shouldn't go hiking with themselves if the conditions are like that.
I think calling the search and rescue would be the best thing to do because of the rough weather conditions. Going up to make sure she was okay would be too dangerous for a person, search and rescue had the helicopter that would find her way easier. I would have tried to stop her before this happened knowing that it was dangerous due to the weather.
I agree it could be even more dangerous if another person were to go up and try to find her so I would let the search and rescue know so they could find her easily. I also would have tried to stop her by telling her that the weather isn't the best.
I think i would have called because they would most likely be able to find her safer and faster than just me. I think i would have told her i don't like the idea but i dont like telling people what they can and can't do because its there life.
I agree I wouldn't have told her what she needed to do but I would have told her what could happen and talked to her about the weather being bad. I also think that calling the search and rescue would be the best because they know how to find people.
