Jayvon Felton, a 9-year-old who was diagnosed with leukemia in April, served as Motor City's honorary "Chief For a Day." Jayvon's day as chief included wearing a S.W.A.T uniform, along with a badge and officer's cap, arriving by helicopter, and getting to meet different officers, police dogs, and citizens of Motor City. Jayvon has always wanted to be a police officer, so when Detroit police Captain Darwin Roche coordinated the event for him, it was a dream come true.

Personally, I don't think that events like this happen enough. It only took one small decision for Darwin Roche to make a dream come true for a young cancer patient. Think of what a great place the world would be if events like this weren't so rare. I'm so happy that Jayvon got the chance to experience this, and I think that after everything he's been through, he absolutely deserves it. What do you guys think? Do do you think that things like this should happen more often in today's world? Read the full article here.

  • Well done Kenzie!!

  • I think that we should have this more often because the people that don't get the chance to do what they've wanted; will finally have the chance.

  • I think it was a good thing that the 9 year old was allowed to have something bright and cheerful in his day. What a thoughtful thing to do, especially with the whole city pitching in. This doesn't happen much today, but there are a lot of people that deserve it. My opinion, this should be done a lot more.

    • There are definitely a lot of people who deserve it, and I think that if people did things like this for others more often, a huge impact could be made.

  • I think that more of these events should happen more often. It's great that this little boy's dream was able to come true even for a day.

  • I think what they did was incredible. More events like these need to happen more to make more kids dreams come true because they might not get to see their future.

    • I agree! With all the treatment he's been going through, the event was probably a very welcome relief for Jayvon, and an opportunity for him to forget all of the bad things, even for just a day....

  • I feel really bad for that boy and I hope he gets better, and I can't imagine the excitement Jayvon probably experienced that day!

  • I definitely think that more events like this should occur, especially with children who are sick or have some kind of disease. These kind of things can help anyone get through their next treatment or another rough patch in their recovery by just giving them a little hope and happiness. I really hope that people continue to do things like this, it just does so much good.

    • I agree! And it was something so simple to put on, but it made such an impact!
