The war in afganistan is coming to an end later this year on 9/11, it was supposed to be later in May here but Biden pushed it back. Why he did that, he thought it would mean more taking out all U.S. troops on a date that put this war into motion. This war was prolonged after the death of Osama Bin Laden in 2011. That's 10 years after his death and the fall of al qaeda. Was it to prevent further terrorist organizations from gaining a foot hold in the country and over throwing the government, what do you think?
I think leaving Afghanistan at this point is hopeless and that we should've left after Osama Bin Laden had been killed and then let the country try to fix itself. Countries and terrorists have been fighting for the country before the U.S. got involved, so what makes it so special after we leave? If the Taliban were to try and run the country after the U.S. has left Biden doesn't think it's in our national interest to be further involved. But the only way to prevent another terrorist attack like 9/11 is to allow the CIA to do seedy things and help make sure nothing like that would ever happen.
There are currently 3,500 troops in Afghanistan and another 7,000 Nato troops, as along as the U.S. and Nato forces leave there shouldn't be any more conflicts. Not only does president Biden think that our country has bigger strategic interests in the world like North Korea and Iran's nuclear program, or the increasingly agressive country of Russia. The real threats to the homeland would be larger 3rd world countries like Africa and the middle east (Yemen, Syria, Somalia).
Do you think the Taliban will let Al Qaeda come back to power when the U.S. leaves?
Should we have left after Osama Bin Laden had been killed?

Well done overall Edwin! All of your replies were done on on day instead of three(-6).
I personally believe that Al Qaeda will not overthrow the Taliban, However, I find it foolish to trust the Taliban knowing their past. No, I believe that we should not have left after killing Osama Bin Laden. I believe that the United States made the right decision not to leave after killing Bin Laden because there were still terrorists at large in the country.
I think that the Taliban will not let Al Qaeda came back to power because I don't think that it matters what we try to do, they are still going to keep the power that they have. I think that it was a good that we left Afganistan because our troops wer just getting killed for no reason I think. I think that we could have used those troops for something better than trying to kill Osama Bin Laden, but I am happy that he is dead.
Im not sure about the Taliban and Al Qaeda, but I think if the Taliban have power they wont want to give it up. I think if we left after Osama Bin Laden was killed someone else would take power and commit more acts of terrorism.
The taliban are kind of like the only government in place and the only way for them to bring order to the country we can't allow Al Qaeda to overthrow them.
I do not know too much about the Taliban or Al Qaeda, but they will most likely fall back into to power and how the US be their main target. We fought against them for a long time, and if and when we leave they will try to take it back. I honestly don't know. that country could have been better off or even worse if we didn't help them.
I don't think that the Taliban will let Al Qaeda come back to power when the U.S. leaves because they have seen what happened the first time so they probably wouldn't want to do it agian. We should not have left after Osama Bin Laden had been killed because another person could have come to power.
Honestly, I don't know much about the war in Afghanistan, but I do think that the war probably should've ended sooner. I think now if we want to leave, we should eradicate Al Qaeda and then leave it up to them, but that seems to be impossible because anyone could just join and start it up again. I think its a good message to leave the war on the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack.
I think that the earlier the better that doing it now in may could've been a better time to get peoples mind's off things at home.
Honestly in my opinion I think it's possible that the taliban could let Al Qaeda come back in to power. You also asked if we should have left after Osama Bin Laden was killed, in my opinion I don't think that would have been the greatest idea because I feel like they would have just appointed a new leader and it would have been a revolving cycle. Since we stayed they didn't have a chance to put anyone new into power
