Leaving Masks Behind

Leaving masks in the past could be a reality for a lot of Americans that are fully vaccinated. On Thursday, the CDC came out with new guidelines saying, that those who are fully vaccinated agest covid do not have to wear masks. There are a few exceptions when people who are fully vaccinated have to wear masks. Masks will still have to be worn on public transportation, medical establishments, and private businesses. Those that have a medical condition or weakened immune system are still encouraged to wear masks even if they are fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated people are those that are 2 or more weeks post their last dose of covid vaccine.

The news that fully vaccinated people do not have to wear masks is wonderful news for a lot of people. With the prospect of not having to wear a mask, the option of getting vaccinated agest covid is looking like a promising choice. Although with this good news, there is a downside, how are we supposed to know who is vaccinated and who is just not wearing a mask? Personally, I do not really care if you're wearing a mask or not. In all, I think that this policy is one more step to getting back to normal. Link

Does the idea of not having to wear a mask if you are vaccinated, make you want to get vaccinated?

Do it does not, I don't wear a mask very often anyway, so I don't really see the point.

Do you think that some people will fake being vaccinated, to get away with not wearing a mask?

I think that there will be some people that say they are vaccinated when they aren't.

  • I don't think that hearing that if you're vaccinated you don't wear a mask will get people to go get vaccinated. People are gonna just say they are and get away with it. people do things like this all the time you think that if they don't have to wear a mask and just say they got vaccinated they won't many people will and many people have.

    • I agree with you I think it might incourage some people to get the vaccine but I think it will not encourage as many people as he thinks it will.  I also think that people are just going to say they got the vaccine just so they can get away with not wearing a mask.

  • No it does not make me want to get vaccinated. In my opinion the vaccine has not had enough research done and was put out way too fast to be effective. I for sure think that some people will fake the vaccination just to not wear a mask.

    • I agree with you. It was pushed out very quickly so it hasn't had enough research done to it. Even if it is effective, they have no clue what long term side effects could be. So I do not feel comfortable getting a vaccine, at lest for now until they know more about side effects a long way down the road.

    • I agree with you, the vaccines have not had enough long-term testing. The vaccines are only approved for emergency use which means that the companies that are producing these vaccines can not be sued if someone dies or gets sick from the vaccine.

  • I'm not going to wear a mask regardless of whether I'm vaccinated or not; I don't think people will legitimately fake being vaccinated to get away with wearing one; the mask mandate has been lifted, so there's really no need to fake it; I've never even worn my mask correctly and haven't had covid once; and if I do catch it, the odds of it injuring me are extremely low; and if I do get it I don't think it will affect me.

  • Vaccinated or not im not going to wear a mask regardless, I dont think people will legitly fake being vaccinated to get away with wearing a mask, they have lifted the mask mandate so theres really no reason to fake it anyways, ive never even worn my mask correctly anyways and havent got covid once so im not really scared of getting it, and if I do get it the chances of it hurting me is really low anyways.

  • I have been fully vaccinated for over two weeks, but I am still wearing a mask in large gatherings. I am not so much concerned about wearing it in areas with fewer people, like for example Casey's or a grocery store, but I still feel uncomfortable not wearing it in the school hallways because they are so crowded with people. I could definitely see people lying about being vaccinated when they are not, and I think that is very ignorant. I guess it's slick if you're about to get away with it, but I'm sure some places will ask to see a vaccine card for proof.

    • I agree that people will lie about it, but it is also against the law to be forced to show a vaccination card. I also agreee with Cameron that tht you are at low risk for getting it in the hallways, you are actually probably more likely to get it at a place like Casey's, at least in my opinion.

    • The way that I see it is that when we are passing people in the hallways we are by them for under a couple of minutes. This minimal contact does not seem to be enough time for people to transmit or catch covid.
