A lot of news has been going around about the two dead, Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum, and one injured, Gaige Grosskreutz, during the protest on August 25th. Kyle Rittenhouse was a 17-year-old kid who wanted to go to Kenosha Wisconsin, to help. Pictures show Rittenhouse cleaning up graffiti, and him being on the polices side.
Rittenhouse went to Kenosha with an AR-15, and a medkit he said, “Part of my job is also to help people. If there is somebody hurt, I’m running into harm’s way. That’s why I have my rifle because I have to protect myself, obviously. I also have my med kit.” A reporter named Richard McGinnis recalled, “Rosenbaum and Rittenhouse met up on the sidewalk of Sheridan Road. Rosenbaum appeared to be trying to engage the armed teen.” Rittenhouse then tries to run away, but Rosenbaum throws something on fire at him. Missing then continues to chase him and corners Rittenhouse. Rosenbaum tries grabbing the gun, but Rittenhouse fires four times and kills Rosenbaum. After killing Rosenbaum, Kyle is running down the street, and people are screaming, “Get him! Get that dude!” Someone punches him in the back of the head, then Kyle trips and falls. While on his back Anthony Huber runs at him and tries grabbing Kyle’s rifle while hitting him with a skateboard. Kyles shoots one round and kills Huber. Grosskreutz runs up with Huber but after seeing Huber got shot. Grosskreutz slows down, and he puts his hands up. Kyle shoots and hits him in the arm. Grosskreutz also had a pistol in his hand. Wisconsin’s gun laws state, "Any person under 18 years of age who possesses or goes armed with a dangerous weapon is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor." Kyle is only 17, but this law only applies if they have a short barrel rifles or shotgun, which he did not have, or if he has not passed a hunter safety course. The public does not know if he has passed a safety course or not. Kyle was charged with first-degree reckless intentional homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide, and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
I believe Kyle is a hero. He went out of his way to try and help people. I also do believe he should be charged but with a Class A misdemeanor and not with the other charges. Kyle was defending himself from attackers. He should only be charged because he was 17 with a gun.

Do you think Kyle is a hero or zero? Why?
Do you think Kyle should be charged? Why?
If you believe Kyle should be charged, what do you think he should be charged with?

I do not think Kyle is a hero as he shot two people for not a good enough reason. I understand he did it out of self desfence and it was just a scare to him but I do not think he needed to kill Grosskreutz and Rosenbaum. I think the color of his skin also took a part in this situation and if this was someone who was of a miniorty, he would have most likey been shot. I do think Kyle should be charged.
Good story choice and well done!
Kemper, I agree with what you say is that he was protecting himself. And should be charged with having a gun underage especially with the gun he was using. I don't see him being either, but I do support him with protecting himself. So I do not believe he should be charged with murder.
Brody, I agree with you that he was protecting himself. I also agree he should be charged for having a gun underage, but I do not think the type of gun should matter. Because a gun is a gun. I do believe he was protecting himself. He was running away both times, so is not the provoker.
I believe that Kyle is closer to a hero than a zero because of his genuinely good intentions and wanting to help people on the streets. He was only protecting himself from harm and it was Rosenbaum's and Huber's choice to attempt to assault an armed minor. I can sympathize with Huber's intentions of wanting to catch the killer of a fellow protester, but Rosenbaum still had no known reason to chase after Kyle. Kyle should be charged but only with a Class A misdemeanor because he was only defending himself and had extremely good intentions of helping more people than hurting them.
I disagree with you. I believe Kyle is a hero. If Kyle passed a safety course he could carry this rifle, but we do not know if he has or not. Anything could and easily take a life. It doesn't just have to be a high powered weapon. I do agree Kyle should be charged. Only with a Class A misdemeanor if he did not pass a safety course to carry the rifle. I do not believe that Kyle was protected by the color of his skin. There are many stories out thereof minorities with guns, and not getting shot, protecting property and people. The dude who had his hands up also had a handgun and pointed it at Kyle. This guy, Gaige Grosskreutz, was also a criminal and shouldn't have had a handgun. He shouldn't be charged because it was self-defense. I believe he should only be charged with a Class A misdemeanor.
I think Kyle is a hero in the fact that he was trying to help people and didn't have intentions to kill anybody but when he was being charged he had every right to defend himself. He should be charged with the misdemeanor and attempted first degree intentional homicide because of when he shot Grosskreutz because he did have his hands up and wasen't pointing the gun at him.
I agree that Kyle is a hero and that he was trying to help people and didn't have intentions to kill anybody. Also that he should be charged with a misdemeanor. I disagree with the attempted first-degree intentional homicide. Grosskreutz was pointing the gun at him but pulled away when Kyle pointed back. Kyle was still defending himself he didn't provoke the attack he was actually running away. Also, if there is a reasonable belief of imminent death or great bodily harm you can use your right of self-defense.
I do think that Kyle did the right thing by defending himself. When being chased down and attacked by someone, an individual's instinct is immediately to react and defend themselves. However, I don't think it was necessary for him to shoot at Grosskreutz because he was not harming him in any way. But, I do understand that he likely acted out of fear. I do think that Kyle should be charged with a Class A misdemeanor because he was breaking the law by possessing a gun at the age of 17. However, I don't think he should be charged with the other charges, as he was defending himself.
I agree, but I do think what he did was right even with Grosskreutz because he was pointing a gun at him. The next day Grosskreutz even said his only regret was, "hesitating to pull his gun’ and “not killing." If Grosskreutz would have killed Kyle then I believe Grosskreutz should be charged because by Wisconsin law," If attack is provoked, self defense may only be used if reasonable belief of imminent death or great bodily harm." Grosskreutz provoked the attack Kyle was running away from him. Grosskreutz ran up to him.
