Kim Reynolds Signs Vaccine Mandate

This last Friday, Iowa governor Kim Reynolds signed a bipartisan piece of legislation. It is a bill stating that it is your decision to get the vaccine. However, there is a twist. The difference is you may not be able to get to work at your job if you choose not to. She claims it is the first step against Biden's vaccine mandate. She said “I am proud to sign this bipartisan piece of legislation today. This is a major step forward in protecting Iowans’ freedoms and their abilities to make healthcare decisions based on what’s best for themselves and their families. This legislation also gives employees the assurance that they will still receive unemployment benefits despite being fired for standing up for their beliefs.”

I understand where she is coming from, but we have nobody to work the way it is. We should not be paying more people to sit at home. We are going into national debt. There are job openings left and right and the economy is going to go down if this continues. It is a major part of life to work. It gives one a sense of accomplishment. Soon there will be no one to teach or nurse. Again, no one should be forced to get the vaccine but there should be strict circumstances for unemployment recipients.

Do you think she made the right decision?

Do you think people will stay home if they get the choice?

  • Great topic choice Brock! I do think your summary could be another paragraph oro so but what is there is good.

  • I dont think that the vaccine should be mandated to anyone and I think that it should be complety that persons choice wether or not they want to get the vaccine. However I think that everyone should have the oportunity to get it if they want to get it.

  • no not at all.  no probably not.

  • I don't think that the vaccine should be mandatory, but the vaccine shouldn't be needed to go to work. This shot shouldn't determine your livelihood. Everybody in the U.S. deserves the choice to get the shot or not. And if taking away jobs is the answer then I say do it and see what happens. It would be interesting to say the least.

    • Yes, you're pretty much saying you think the vaccine should not be a mandatory thing whether it's work or in general. I like how you say it's your choice too as it should be. Freedom is what this country was originally based off of.

  • I think it should be your choice whether or not you want to get the vaccine. I have agreed with what Kim Reynolds has been doing in the past for the most part. I don't think it is right for businesses to fire you for not getting the vaccine.

  • Everyone should be able to make their own choice on the vaccine. If they don't want to get it, then they shouldn't have to. I don't think that it should be mandated. I agree that we shouldn't support those sitting at home and not working. We really need people to start working again. No one should have to be forced into the vaccine, but I understand the importance and need for people to keep working.

  • I think everyone should be able to choose whether they want the vaccine or not. I think Kim Reynolds made a decision that was best for now. She is going to get all sorts of opinions coming at her, but I think she met somewhere in the middle. I do not think it is fair for individuals to have to go into unemployment, so I hope this law changes soon.

  • Nobody should put your job in jeopardy over a shot and they shouldn't force you to wear a piece of cloth on your face. TO protect the people with breathing problems and respirtatory issues I guess it's fine, but not everyone is going to get the vaccine, so yes and no.

  • In my opinion, I think she made the right decision because people should be more responsible, and by giving them the choice to decide she is making people refuse to get the vaccine so in m opinion people should think about the consequences of not getting it.
