Kentucky Plane Crash Spares Child

Summary-

On January 2nd Sailor Gultz and her family were in a plane crash . Sailor was the only survivor of the crash. Her dad, the pilot, reported inclement weather before his plane went down. Sailor wore only a short sleeve shirt shorts and one sock as she trekked through a mile of almost freezing temperatures, brier patches and heavily wooded areas. She spotted the porch light of 71 year old Larry Wilkins and knocked on the door. Larry opened the door to a trembling 7 year old girl crying and saying that her family was dead and the plane was upside down. Everyone but Sailor was killed including her parents, sister, and cousin.

Questions-

If this had happened to you would you reacted in the same way? Why or why not?

How do you think the little girl felt about this? Explain.

  • Great job Frank!

  • This is very sad and should never happen to anyone especially a young girl. I think she felt shocked and sad for seeing her family dead. I honestly don't even know what I would have done in this situation. She is very brave and smart to have reacted in this way at such a young age.

    • Not many people would've known what to do! Some would have just sat there and cried until help happened to come by... The people with stronger bodies/mind would have been able to do what she did...

  • This little girl had to have a lot of courage and bravery to go find help from what she just went through. She was most likely scared like any other person would be if they saw their family dead in that plane, but she did the right thing to go and find help. Sailor Gultz is a very smart little girl to have done what she did.

    • I agree she was probably traumatized at the sight but she did the right thing!

  • This seven year old did exactly what her father had taught her; in case of emergency, go get help. Because she listened to what her father told her when she was younger, I believed that she saved her own life. I feel extremely bad for her as I am sure that the sight of seeing your whole family dead in a plane crash is something that you can't just un-see and forget about.

    • I hope they put her into some sort of therapy to help her get through this!

  • I don't know what I would so if saw my family lying there dead. I don't know if I would have the courage to do what she did.

    • A lot of people would've just sat there and cried...

  • I thinks he was very scared I don't know what I would do seeing that my parents were not alive and not knowing where to go or what to do. I would of did the same thing as she did.
