Kelly Stafford the wife of Lions Quarterback Mattew Stafford,Stafford announced she would undergo brain surgery in April after an MRI revealed a tumor. She had been encouraged by Lions team medical staff to have an exam after experiencing vertigo spells. She had a abnormal vein which for other neurosuregons would be hard to have a surgey with, but the suregon they picked had done it before and had written a paper about it. The surgey was supposed to be a 6 hours went to 12 hours but they finally got the tumor removed.

If this happened to one of your family members how you help them and how would you feel?

If this happened to my family members I would try and help by getting money and then put that money intio the surgey bill.

Why do you think that the surgey took 12 hours to complete

I think that it just a long surgey and you don't want to mess anything up so the suregon were just taking their time and then they finally got it removed.

  • Overall your summary is brief and you should have replied more. I also think the story choice isn't great as it just doesn't lead to good discussion.

  • I would be very sad to see one of my family members have to go through something like this. It would have to take a while to recover from this. Brain surgeries have to take awhile because they need to be very careful.

  • If this happen to one of my family memebrs I would try and rasie fund rasiers to ger money for the surgeryand tell them its going to be ok and there going to live. I think that it took time to remove layers of skin and to cut through the skull to get to the tumor and they probelly removed it very carefully and checked to make sure that it dident spread anywhere.

  • I agree I would try to get money and fundraise to get money to put towards the bill and I would also confort them. It probably took very long because they didn't want anything to go wrong because they were taking there time and making sure they got it removed properly.

  • Yes julia, I agree that the you want the best care for the person that is having the tumor and you want to do anything you can to make sure that everything goes well. I agree that surgey was just a long and tough surgey and they wanted to make sure that they did everything right and make sure she was completely healthy.

  •  I agree with both Grace's that they had trust in the doctor because he had done it before and that he wrote a paper about it and they were scared but also trusted there doctor. I agree that the doctor just needed to take his time to get the tumor removed and to make sure she would be complete healthy.

  • I also think Camila that yes the family will be devasted because who wants a brain tumor and it was be sad and emotionally for everyone in the family and like you said you got to help them in anyway possible. I also think that yes the suregion just wanted to make sure that tey got everything right and didn't want to mess anything up in the surgery.

  • If this happened to me or someone in my family I would want the best doctors for them so that they could get the tumor removed and recover. I think it so long because they wanted to get all the tumor and keep her alive.

  • I think finding out that your loved one has a tumor would emotionally impact everyone around. I would feel completely devastated and scared if someone aorund me would have to undergo such a big procedure. Not to mention, the cost was probably outrageous; I would try and help as much as I could financially and emotionally. It probably took double the amout of time that it was supposed to because the surgeon wanted to make sure he did a good job and didn't mess anything up.

  • If someone in my family got sick and needed a surgery I would try to get them the best care so they could be healthy and have no more tumor. I think it took 12 hours because it was complicated and the surgeon took his time so she could be healthy and alive after.
