A Kansas City mother punched her child's elementary school teacher for having scratched her son earlier that day.  Simone Baker, 24, allegedly punched the Hickman Mills School District teacher before grabbing her hair and slamming her face into a nearby filing cabinet. The fight began when Baker got into an argument with Truman Elementary School teacher Phyllis White. Baker reportedly approached White wanting to talk to her about what her son stated his teacher did to him in class earlier that day. Police say when White and school Principal Rhonda Gavel told Baker she needed to come back the next day if she wanted to discuss the incident, Baker ran out of the office and down to White’s classroom and yelled, “You better not touch my kid again.” After the fight Baker was said to leave the school on foot. One parent sympathized with a "protective parent". Sherrell Kennedy has a kindergartener in the school and was shocked to hear about the attack. Kennedy told KHSB 'that you have to take yourself out of the situation and act like an adult.' Baker will be attending court next month.

What do you guys think about this whole fiasco? Did Simone Baker over react? The link to the story is here.

  • Good job overall but you haven't kept replying on this post as much.

  • Really? Baker completely overreacted by beating up the teacher. The article says nothing about the scratch, whether it was on the arm or face, but the teacher probably shouldn't have done that, but maybe that was an accident. I think that Baker should have acted more her age, and have been an adult.

  • I wonder what exactly the child told his mom. Also I think the parent over reacted you don't just go and beat up your childs teacher or a teacher in general.

  • I think she might've gone a little overboard. I know that she might've been worried about her child's wellbeing, but that's a little too far. Maybe a little yelling, but definitely not slamming her face into a filing cabinet! I find the situation a little funny, to be honest. Baker was an adult, she should've had enough self-control to calm down and look at this rationally.

  • Baker over reacted and should have talked to them like a mature adult instead of hitting their kid's teacher! I am curious to know what the child told his mom, I mean he is only a kindergartner he couldn't have said something to outrageous or maybe what he was saying was an exaggeration to what actually happened.

  • I think that she could have gone into the classroom and tried to figure out the situation or if that didn't work she could have gone to the teachers boss.

  • I think that this girl is a little wako. Maybe she should have tried to talk to the teacher before breaking things with her head. I do think Baker overreacted way to much. Maybe her son does not like the teacher and made up a lie or something. I guess this just shows don't mess with mommas little bear.

  • I believe baker did had the right thought just reacted in the wrong way. There should have been no fight.

  • I can understand how Baker, like many parents, just wants her child to be safe but she completely over reacted in this situation. Being an adult she needs to learn to handle things more maturely, after all she is the one setting an example for her child.

    • That is a very good point she needs to be the one setting the example and she is doing a poor job of it.
