Colin Kaepernick was one of the many that did not vote in last Tuesdays election. You may already know Kaepernick, either as the 49ers Quarterback or as the start of the kneeling during the National Anthem. His protest during the NFL preseason led to many other athletes and citizens joining in, some ranging from elementary students to professional teams. This sparked controversy all over the U.S., even leading to President elect Donald Trump calling Kaepernick out during his campaign. But if that hadn't been enough, Kaepernick made it well known that he did not vote in this election. At first, he said that it didn't matter who won, but then came back saying that he thinks "it would be hypocritical of me to vote." Colin being against oppression has not changed one bit, and he for sure was not going to support the system of oppression. He also said that urgency within his cause should be felt now that Trump has been elected.

-Do you think Kaepernick was deserving of the hate that has come from his protests? Why or why not?
-Why do you think that people should feel urgency, whether with his cause or not, now that Trump has been elected?

Opinion
- I don't think he deserved the hate, but he did do something that was definitely going to cause some controversy. With that being said, it was kind of a given that comments were going to be made, whether or not they were positive or negative.
- I think that, because most people believe Trump is racist, people think that oppression of black people and people of color will not be helped or will, in a way, get worse.

Great story choice! I think you could have replied a few more times. -5 for one day late.
I think that he deserves the hate, because kneeling during the National Anthem is a disgrace to our country. Although, I see what he was trying to get across to the people. Also not voting isn't going to help him change how things are going for minorities. I think he says people should feel urgency now that Trump has been elected president, because many people see him as a racist.
His protest through kneeling was perfectly okay so I don't think he deserved any hate for it but him not voting doesn't make sense. If he wanted change so much that should mean that he would want to vote for a liberal third party candidate or Hillary but he chose not to vote instead. Trump represents racism and sexism in today's society to many people and a lot of Americans believe he won't bring about any change.
I do not agree with what Kaepernick has done. It is completely disrespectful to our country to kneel during the National Anthem. Since he didn't vote, he cannot complain about the outcomes. He had a chance to make his voice heard, but he chose not to use it. I think that the urgency for a lot issues, including the oppression of African Americans and equal women's rights, will be felt now because Trump has expressed very racist and sexist comments. I believe that a lot of minorities will now be upping their protests and pushes for equal rights.
I think he is deserving of the hate, mostly because people don't really see the big picture, or the real reason why he is doing such things. They just see him doing the bizarre things and think he is an unloyal citizen, but really he's trying to make this better for African Americans. I believe people will feel urgency because they think Trump is a joke, or a dumb millionaire. People don't really know his intentions.
I dont think he deserves the hate because it is a right to not vote but it makes others mad that he did not vote because he has been kneeling during the national anthem. I think that people think that Trump is racist and blacks are do not like him.
Yes because If you don't vote your not helping America that one vote could have changed things. I think people are over reacting about trump becoming president he just can't do what ever he wants. People think he is a racist womanizer.
I think he didn't deserve the negative hate he got because it was his choice not to vote.
no I don't believe that he deserves all of the hate his is getting from not voting, it is his right to vote and he can choose whether he wants to or not.
I dont think that he deserved the hate but then again he did do something wrong. Obviously some comments were going to be made after this happening. I think that people feel urgency because they think trump will build a wall and that he is racist.
