Justin Tucker sets field goal record with a 66 yard field goal

Justin Tucker the Baltimore Ravens kicker made a 66 yard field goal to beat the Detroit lions on september 26th 2021 to set a new record. Passing the previous record set by Matt prater in 2013 who made a 64 yard field goal. During pregame warmup he was practicing long distance field goals and he missed one at 65 yards. Tucker says "As I'm becoming more and more a dinosaur in this league at 31 years old, I've got to do every little thing I can to get the ball to go a little farther". Later saying "When you're that far away, there's a level of you have to abandon a certain amount of your technique ... to gain a little power and use the adrenaline and the feeling of the moment to get the ball to go. I hop into it just a little more aggressively".

Tuckers NFL record kick marks the the second time in lions history that the Detroit Lions have lost a game against a record setting field goal. The last time was November 8th in 1970 against the New Orleans Saints, Tom Dempsey made a 63 yard field goal to beat the Lions. The record kick set by Justin Tucker brought them the win to stay tied with the Bengals and the Brown to stay at the top of AFC North with the record of 2-1. Tucker said "Its Deja Vu all over again" " I love Detroit im thinking about getting a place here".

Setting the record alot of people are saying that we should put Tuckers leg in the HOF (Hall of Fame) strictly for his kicking strength. Personally I could see something like that happpening but a simple reward for setting the kicking record would settle. He is a great kicker but soon will be his time and i think if he stays healthy he should be able to play for many more years.

Do you think that Justin Tuckers "Leg" should be in the Hall of fame?

Do you think he has the chance to set a new record as he progesses?

Do you think he has the possibility to play many more years if he stays healthy?

  • Aiden,

Good topic choice but it is more of an article summary. I would like it to be more focused on your thought-you do do this-just more. Be sure to comment more frequently next time.

  • I think that this is a very cool acomplishment and that this will be talked about for a very long time. I think that it is only a matter of time before someone breaks the record again with a even longer kick. It realy makes you wonder how far in 100 years could a record like this be.

  • I think he should get a place in the hall of fame, a 66 yard field goal is insane and worth to keep that in memories. I think he could do it again if he kept practicing. Maybe if he stays healthy he can.
  • Yes I think he has a chance to set a new record because he was very good in it and probably still is..

I think anytime it is over like when you get old but when he stay more health next years he could do it a few more years yes.

  • I think that it is a great idea to put it in the hall of fame, especially because this is such a huge achievement. I think he does have a chance to set a new record because he will just keep getting stronger and now he has more of an incentive considering he broke the record and probably wants to do it again.

  • I think that he should be in the hall of fame if he got the longest kick because he deserves it and he earned it. I think that he could definitely set another record for kicking longer if his strength increases, then he could kick it farther. If he stays healthy I bet he could play a couple more years and maybe set a new record. Even though he is getting older, if he takes care of himself he could most likely set a new record.

  • I think it could be a great idea to put it in the Hall of fame because he made something that no one else has ever achieved. I do think he has the opportunity to make a new record because of his mentality. He looks like he wants more. I think if he takes care of himself he could play many more years.

  • I think that he should be in the hall of fame. If he kicked the longest feild goal in the nfl he deserves it. I think he does have a chance at making a farther one. Yes he has the possibility to play many more years and possibly make longer field goals if he takes care of himself and stays healthy.

  • I think that Justin Tucker needs to be in the Hall of Fame. If that's the farthest field goal record ever then their needs to be some sort of award or if not the hall of fame then something else. I think he has the possibility to set new records throughout the year.

  • I think that just getting an award for kicking the record would be an honor. I'm not sure that he should get to be in the Hall Of Fame because someone else could come and possibly beat his current record. I think that since his leg is so strong and he is still working to progress, it is very possible that as he improves he might get a new record.
