John Kerry is "Negotiating" With Iran.

President Trump claims that John Kerry, former secretary of state, is negotiating with Iran, telling them not to call the White House. If this claims to be true, this is a violation of the Logan Act. The Logan Act is a U.S. federal law that criminalizes negotiation by people that have not been authorized to negotiate with foreign governments that are currently having a dispute with the United States. If one goes against this act they could be fined and charged with a felony, which could lead to them losing their job. John Kerry's spokesperson says that Kerry is only "staying in touch with his former counterparts the way every former secretary of state has done." However, Trump still believes that Kerry is telling the Iranians not to talk to Trump.

If what Trump claims about Kerry is true, what should happen to Kerrry?

I think that Kerry should be fined, charged with a felony, and not be able to play a governmental role that includes any foreign relations.

If Trump's claims are true, what should Trump do to gain better ties back with Iran?

I think that Trump should have more meetings with Iran and maybe even try to become allies with Iran.

  • I think that Kerry should be fined because he would be violating a federal law.I think that Trump should have more meetings with Iran to maybe try to become allies with them.

  • I think Kerry could be fired or sent to jail. He's probably going to get in a lot of trouble for this. I think Trump should stay out of foreign affairs but I think he should talk to Iran and see if they could get some kind of peace offering set up.

  • If this is true, he should be charged for violating the Logan act and be prevented from being able to negotiate again. I agree that they should have more meetings and try negotiating without someone interferring if it's true.

  • If this is true I agree that he should be charged with a felony, and be relieved of all government activities. I think that Trump will try and connect with Iran much more and try to make peace of the problems.

  • I think that Kerry should be fined, fired, and sit in prison for awhile. I think that the two should meet just like he did with Kim Jong Un and talk about agreements that they can make to keep in touch with each other.

  • If Kerry is telling Iran to not contact the White House then he should be charged with a felony and lose his place in a government position. If what Trump claims is true, I think he should start communicating with Iran and create a positive relationship.

  • I think he should go to prison for life because of the treason he has maybe committed. If this is true and he is stopping them from negotiating with us he should be held responsible for anything that may happen. He should go there and talk to them and after he can trust them we should lift some of our restrictions off of them.

  • I think that it should be considered treason. he should go to prison for a while, not entire life but for most of it. plus a huge fine, and get fired from his job and not allowed to work for the government ever again. I think they should make for trades and have more meetings with them.

    • I agree that he should be put into  prison for a long time, but I think he should be in prison for life because if this is true he has committed treason which could put the US in danger, and he should definitely lose his job if he did this.
